Eating out with family

Day 61 (Happy 2-month old birthday!)

We celebrated Mother’s Day early with dim sum in the morning with my family and then dinner at House of Prime Rib with Ron’s family.

Here is Simon all ready to start the day.

After dim sum, we went back to my parents’ house to hang out.  The dogs were happy to see us (Buddy on the left, Happy on the right).

Dinner was at House of Prime Rib.  We had a lovely (and filling) dinner complemented by a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from Neal Vineyards in Napa Valley.  Simon had been sleeping before we went out to dinner and continued to sleep through dinner until we got home, almost 5 hours total.  We were all impressed he could sleep through the noise in the restaurant.

Did they get new plates?  For some reason I don’t remember the plates being red.

For the first time we actually had room for dessert at HOPR.  We ordered the creme brulee and the English trifle to share.  The creme brulee was excellent, very creamy and nice sugary crust.  The English trifle had blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and a delicious Grand Marnier anglaise.  The fruits tasted very fresh and juicy.

We were really stuffed and really relieved that Simon survived such a busy day without a complete meltdown.

Watching TV

Day 60

Simon is starting to enjoy tummy time more.  He still does not really use his arms much (so we prop him up) but is usually kicking his legs so that he almost tips himself over the front of my breast feeding pillow.

Ron has some baby learning videos on his laptop that he let Simon watch today.  He was mesmerized.  He really does seem to like to watch television.  He especially likes to watch while Ron is bottle feeding him.  It keeps him distracted so that he will just suck and swallow and not think about how much he is eating.  He can sometimes get really fussy and not want to eat.

One of his new outfits from Auntie Jen L. “Bananas over Mommy” (which of course he eventually peed on so we had to change him out of it).
