Morning Iris!

Iris has started playing “house”. At least she knows how to feed her baby and stuffed animal Gabby “milk” and cover them with a blanket in the toy crib. Here she is using the play sippy cup to feed Gabby.
So sweet.

I love hugging Iris in the morning. Please ignore my “morning hair”.
Simon’s lunch of cherries, strawberries, raspberries, dinosaur chicken nuggets, carrots, apple pears, fortune cookie and some cracker sticks (Yan Yan without the dipping sauce.
Iris likes playing with the Potato Heads.
She has good finger dexterity and picks up items gently and is still learning how to insert the body parts into the potato.
Simon plays with the potato heads along with Iris. Sometimes they fight for parts but they generally play well together.

We decided to go to the Berkeley Kite Festival at the marina today. It cost $15 to park and walked about 1/2 mile to the area where they were flying the kites. First thing we did was grab lunch.
My attempt at getting a family picture but didn’t realize that Iris was blocked by the stroller bar.
Then we walked up the hill to attempt to fly our own kites. At least Ron and Simon did. At first Simon was happy.
Then a little concerned and then annoyed then tired. He ended up sitting in the stroller while Ron flew the kites.
It was a beautiful day for flying kites. Clear skies and good breeze.
Simon was a little happier when he got a “mango on a stick”.

After the kite festival, we ended up on Telegraph Avenue for Sundays on Telegraph.
Simon got to be creative and draw with chalk all over the ground on the closed street.
Iris and Daddy watched while Simon was drawing.
On the street was a man making huge bubbles. A big hit with both kids.
Then we had a snack at “Taste”.
Taro shaved snow with red beans and mochi. Very rich and creamy.
Mango shaved snow with fresh mango, strawberries, and mochi. A little more icy and too sweet for my taste.
It was a beautiful day spent outdoors.

Iris all dressed up for the day.
So after Simon’s swim lesson this morning, we headed to the Oakland Zoo for his classmate Cat’s birthday party. It was a warm and sunny afternoon at the zoo with a very beautiful cake.

After the party, we headed over to San Ramon to visit Grandma and Grandpa Tam. By the time we arrived at their house, both kids were fast asleep. Notice their heads “nod” in the same direction (at least in the mirror).
So peaceful.
We hung around at home before going out for an early dinner. Both kids had so much fun running and jumping around. We went to have Chinese food and ice cream. Iris at the dinner table.

Originally I said no ice cream after dinner but then Grandma Tam wanted ice cream so treated Simon.
And treated Iris.
She loves “cold” things like ice cubes and ice cream… but not cold milk.

Iris still soundly asleep in the morning.
Breakfast time. Iris gets buckled in for safety now because she attempts to stand up sometimes or put her leg up on the table.
Simon’s lunch of rice, chicken wings/drumsticks, corn, watermelon, and raspberries.
I am not the only one who is a big fan of Hello Kitty! I was working all week with a co-worker CC who also really likes Hello Kitty so I asked if she wanted to make this week: Hello Kitty Week and she said yes. We missed taking a picture on Monday together so I that’s why I had Simon take a picture of me at home then the other four days were from CC.
So here is Monday. My Hello Kitty skirt is from when we went to Japan for our honeymoon. Good quality clothes last a long time.

Here is Thursday. I tried to wear my “nicer” Hello Kitty top for our wedding anniversary but pulled up the sheer top to show off the tank. This is the first time I got to wear my pink sparkly Hello Kitty shoes.
Here is today: Friday. More casual. My skirt also has Hello Kitty and my new shoes from Taiwan.

It also happened to be the last work week for two of our employees so we celebrated with lots of eating. I brought Kara’s Cupcakes from SF yesterday and one of them brought Nothing But Bundts and we also had a cake. Too much sugar!
I come home to find out that Iris has figured out how to press the button on this toy to make the gears spin around. She is super happy and smiley whenever she does it too. “Here Mommy, let me show you!”
