Holiday Crafts

Monday, December 16, 2013

Monday lunch of pizza rolls, carrots, clementines, and apple fries.

At school, these lovely “trees” were all around the classroom. Creative and pretty neat.

At home, I had Simon start on his holiday cards for the teachers. He colored some snowmen and snowflakes before cutting them out. Then glued them into cardstock and used foam alphabet stickers to spell the teachers’ names and wrote his own name. It’s a lot of work so will take him a few days but I’ll take a picture of the finished products.

Mommy’s little cupcake. Love those kissable cheeks!

Visiting Santa in San Francisco

Sunday, December 15, 2013

Ron decided he wanted to bring the kids to San Francisco Macy’s to see Santa Claus. So we headed out by 10am and also picked up our friend Susan and her son Caden. When we arrived, there was quite a line so the boys went around Holiday Lane inside Macy’s exploring and entertaining themselves.

Simon drew a picture for Santa and put it in the mail there for him. We told Simon that Santa took a break and flew his sleigh here just to ser some little boys and girls to hear what they wanted for Christmas. He has no reason to question Santa’s existence and was excited so didn’t get very fussy waiting.

They tried to take a picture with the Union Square tree.

After an hour, they needed a snack before going to see Santa.

Everyone did great seeing Santa. No crying. Simon asked Santa for a crane truck and flatbed truck. Stay tuned for the official picture.

After we exited Macy’s, we were headed across the street to the tree but the boys really wanted balloon animals first.

Iris fell asleep right as I was taking her picture! She was a trooper through the whole wait to see Santa so she deserved her nap and I didn’t want to wake her.

After lunch, we headed to Ikea but Simon fell asleep so Iris and I hung out in the car while Simon slept and Daddy went inside to shop.

At home, still so happy with his balloon.

>Simon colored these sea shells and cut them out all by himself. I said they were all so pretty but the rainbow colored one was my favorite. He goes on to ask me, by pointing to each one, “do you think this one is pretty? This one? And this one?” Of course I answered that they are all pretty but I don’t think he quite gets the concept of “favorite”.

Iris, Happy 7 months!

Friday, December 13, 2013

Iris was due for her second flu shot so I took her to a Kaiser drop in flu shot clinic. She only cried our for a few seconds after the shot and calmed down right away. So proud of this little girl, so brave. All bundled up after her visit for her vaccine.

Happy 7 months to our baby! I can’t believe how fast you’re growing. She’s been eating like a trooper, can inch herself forward, roll across the room, is starting to be able to put puff cereal in her own mouth, drink water with a straw cup, signal us when she wants to be held, can pull herself up to standing if you’re holding her hands, and so much more. I love to hear her babbling voice and to make her laugh and smile.

I’ve finally figured out how to make this Windows WordPress app work for me. It’s a bit more complicated than the iPhone app and I can’t upload video directly but seems to have all the necessary features that I use. I’m still trying to figure out how to best use the camera though. There are almost too many options so I’m still trying to learn them and be quicker with selecting the different options.

Fishy Face!

Thursday, December 12, 2013

Last night Simon and I tried to make JELLO jigglers but I forgot to oil the tray so they got stuck 🙁 but I was able to get two decent dog cutouts. He also had mini corn dogs, apples, clementines, and edamame for lunch.

Simon’s art project from yesterday: a decorated Christmas tree.

Some artwork he did that is hanging in the classroom. He painted and decorated these fish himself and can sing the song that goes along with it.

Iris has been waving her arms around, slamming her hands down, etc. She had hit or scratched herself accidentally a few times so you see some red welts on her forehead. Good thing babies’ skin heals quickly.

Simon really likes making silly fishy faces.

I caught him in mid-pucker so now he looks like a chipmunk! Haha 🙂
