Bowl’d on Telegraph Ave

Friday, January 31, 2014

Happy Chinese New Year!

Simon had the day off from school today and Ron decided to work from home today so they visited me at work during lunchtime. We tried the new Bowl’d on Telegraph Ave (was Sura then Copan and recently changed to Bowl’d – they also have a location in Albany on Solano Ave). Delicious bi bim bap! But you should really try their kimchi fried rice, so buttery and delicious.

Chinese New Year Eve Celebration

Thursday, January 30, 2014

Lunch for the last day of school this week. Tomorrow the school is closed for Chinese New Year. He has strawberries, a mandarin orange, pizza rolls, rice with pork floss (rousong), and two cookies. Simon loves rousong. He ate every last bite of his lunch. He’s usually a pretty good eater when it is food he really likes.

Tonight we had Chinese New Year Eve dinner in San Ramon at Grandma and Grandpa Tam’s house. The kiddos got all dressed up for the celebration.

I wore one of my Chinese tops today too.

Iris had matching gold shoes. She can stand up for 1 second before buckling her knees and sitting/falling down.

They were still doing a lot of cooking so Iris was playing in the living room and Simon was watching TV.

Our nanny Annie also joined us for dinner. Iris really liked her scarf.

Uncle Tim and Auntie Callie helped to babysit Iris too.

Sitting down to our lovely meal. (Grandpa Tam is taking the picture.)

We were all happily stuffed after the delicious traditional meal. Iris even tried some of the good food like the sugar snap peas, the fish, rice, and chicken.

Simon got too hot wearing his outfit so took off the top. Grandma Tam gave him a new toy, Dusty from the Pixar Planes movie.

Simon has been using this dry erase board to trace things. Basically it has a clear plastic screen and between the back and the screen, you can put in a picture which he can trace. He has been practicing letters and also drawing pictures. He is very concentrated when drawing.

Iris likes playing with her new activity table. She can “cruise” a little bit around it but still a little bit wobbly.

New Activity Table

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

Lunch of mango, strawberries, chicken tacos, carrots, cucumbers, and a fortune cookie. Simon likes mango a lot and thinks it is fun to eat the mango off of the skin. But I think he prefers that we peel it since it is easier for him to eat it faster! Ron brought him the fortune cookie leftover from his work yesterday. Simon made sure to give it to me to pack into his lunch.

We opened a new toy for Iris today, an activity table. She loves trying to stand up on everything. This table is a little bit unstable because it is a bit light so we have to watch her really carefully so she doesn’t knock it over.

I’m still getting used to Simon’s haircut. He looks so grownup!

Sitting to Standing Position

Monday, January 27, 2014

Simon’s lunch of carrots, mini corn dogs, few pieces of BBQ chicken, honeydew melon, grapes, and a panda cookie. He was the 7th child to finish all his lunch today. They have kind of a competition to see who can finish all their lunch and they get a sticker with the number and they get to sing a song about their “empty dish”.

Apparently Iris had a fussy day with lots of drooling and lots of chewing on objects. Annie thinks she might have another tooth coming out soon. Poor little girl must be uncomfortable.

Simon is not into taking photos today so this is all I could get before he turned away. He was making a fishy face and this is him relaxing his lips.

Iris is getting more and more curious and more and more nosy. She wants to see everything big brother is doing and wants to touch it too. They look so cute standing here together though.

How did Iris get up next to Simon? Watch this!

She was so happy to be next to Simon. She’s growing up so fast!
