Monterey Bay Aquarium

August 6, 2011

We decided to take a short trip to Monterey to bring Simon to see the fish, turtles, penguins, etcetera. Simon had a nap and was all ready to run around the aquarium. Unfortunately it was really crowded and hard to see things without bumping into other people or people bumping into you. But he did get to do a few things like touch the abalone shell. He wanted to take it home with him!

Outside checking out the surge tank.

Then lunch at an outside restaurant (forgot the name) where we had fish and chips, lobster-shrimp sandwich roll, and chicken tenders with fries. Simon loved the dinosaur shaped chicken tenders. He even ignored the fries for the chicken.

After lunch, we went back inside the aquarium and to the kids play area. We brought him here before and he had fun except that he was smaller then so the other kids got in his way. Now he can climb the stairs by himself and even go down the slide all by himself. You can see him scooting himself down.

We left the aquarium around 4pm.

We went for a stroll on the trail then stopped by the Cannery Row Outlets. Inside, Simon had a ride on the EZ (Elmo Zoe) car.

Then relaxed in the green convertible with a puppy.

Next time we visit the aquarium will probably be on a weekday and not in the summer. Since we have a membership, we can visit anytime but it’s no fun when there are so many people there and you have to push and shove your way to see the animals.
