Shalimar Restaurant

Ron and I had a quick dinner at Shalimar Restaurant. We tried their chicken masala, garlic naan, okra, and a mango lassi.

The chicken masala was yummy with the naan although the chicken was a bit dry but there was plenty of sauce to soak it. I didn’t really like the okra though, a bit too mushy. The mango lassi nice and creamy.

Apple-Cinnamon Upside-Down Cake

It was my co-worker Monica’s birthday this week as well, today actually. So I baked her a cake for her birthday. She didn’t request anything specific so I did my best with the things I had around the house. I had some Fuji apples in the refrigerator so thought it’d be good to make use of them.

Here is the Apple-Cinnamon Upside-Down Cake that I baked.

A close-up:

It went over well I think, Monica’s words: “It’s good and it’s not too sweet”, just like she wanted. Happy Birthday Monica!

Nike Women’s Marathon Continued

Just some more photos to share.

My friends Kat & Jon were waiting for me at the finish line, so caught some photos of me as I crossed underneath.

Yes! 4 hours and 49 minutes!

Our prize at the end, the firemen dressed in tuxedos carrying silver platters with Tiffany boxes.

Starving at the end, munching on a bagel and Kashi cereal.

We ran like girls!

And our baby boy completed his first half marathon as well.

I went for a massage at La Biang Thai since they have therapists who are trained to give massages to pregnant women plus it was affordable ($55 for 60 minutes). My leg muscles were really sore still so it was a painful but relaxing massage. The therapist was really nice too and made sure I was comfortable. I felt like it was a good place for a massage when you’re feeling tense but not necessarily when you’re sore. Since it’s thai style, they use their elbows and knuckles which is good for releasing knots but is painful when your muscles are super sore.

Birthday

My co-workers decided to treat me to cake for my birthday today. I usually bake for them when it’s their birthday but they wouldn’t let me bake for my own birthday.

Monica ordered a tropical and peach mousse cake from Schubert’s Bakery.

Look at all that yummy chocolate and sweet and delicious mousse!

After the singing, ready to dig in:

The cake was very yummy, I could taste the passion fruit, so good.

For dinner, Ron and I just went somewhere within walking distance as I was still recovering from the marathon, my shins and feet were still super sore.
