Buckles

Friday, September 19, 2014

Simon’s lunch of a ham & cheese sandwich on foccacia bread, carrots, Bosc pear, strawberries, and 1/2 an orange. He came home with the orange and a few carrots. He said he does not like “big” oranges, only “small” ones (like clementines).

Iris has recently been interested in buckling and unbuckling herself from the stroller. Actually she cannot unbuckle herself yet, only buckle up. She will call for one of us to help her undo the buckle. But recently I went to Joann’s to buy a strap and a buckle to create a “belt” for her to practice with. She found it quite fun to wear it like a fashion accessory.

Little Bottles and Silly Simon

Thursday, September 18, 2014

Simon’s lunch of penne pasta with Chinese BBQ pork, carrots, watermelon, and “everything” crackers. He only left the pieces of BBQ pork. I was impressed he finished all of this.

Iris wearing her fuzzy hat. She was reading a book where the picture showed a baby trying to put on a hat so she wanted to do it too.

Iris really likes little bottles or containers where you can screw on and off the cap. With this little glass bottle, she really likes to drink water from it.

And also offer you some water.

This is how Simon decided to pose for me when I asked him to take a picture. Super Simon! Yes, I know you can see his ribs, but I swear, he eats a lot! I think he’s just super active so looks thin.

A more sweet look.

Iris has started playing “house”. At least she knows how to feed her baby and stuffed animal Gabby “milk” and cover them with a blanket in the toy crib. Here she is using the play sippy cup to feed Gabby.

Mr. Potato Head

I love hugging Iris in the morning. Please ignore my “morning hair”.

Iris likes playing with the Potato Heads.

She has good finger dexterity and picks up items gently and is still learning how to insert the body parts into the potato.

Simon plays with the potato heads along with Iris. Sometimes they fight for parts but they generally play well together.

Berkeley Kite Festival and Sundays on Telegraph

Sunday, July 27, 2014

We decided to go to the Berkeley Kite Festival at the marina today. It cost $15 to park and walked about 1/2 mile to the area where they were flying the kites. First thing we did was grab lunch.

My attempt at getting a family picture but didn’t realize that Iris was blocked by the stroller bar.

Then we walked up the hill to attempt to fly our own kites. At least Ron and Simon did. At first Simon was happy.

Then a little concerned and then annoyed then tired. He ended up sitting in the stroller while Ron flew the kites.

It was a beautiful day for flying kites. Clear skies and good breeze.

After the kite festival, we ended up on Telegraph Avenue for Sundays on Telegraph.

Simon got to be creative and draw with chalk all over the ground on the closed street.

On the street was a man making huge bubbles. A big hit with both kids.

Then we had a snack at “Taste”.

Taro shaved snow with red beans and mochi. Very rich and creamy.

Mango shaved snow with fresh mango, strawberries, and mochi. A little more icy and too sweet for my taste.

It was a beautiful day spent outdoors.
