Thai Express

I had quite a relaxing day today with shopping on Orchard Rd, got some nice dresses and shoes and gifts. I also got to enjoy a Whopper from Burger King and a latte from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf… both of which I haven’t had in quite a while.

Ron was busy finishing up some work for school but we met up for dinner with friends at Holland Village. We had dinner at Thai Express. The appetizers were the most interesting part of our meal.

We had a green mango salad served with coconut milk, called Chiang Mai style.

Plus the stuffed chicken wings… apparently stuffed with chicken and shrimp. It was interesting and a bit weird to be eating something that looked like a chicken wing but did not have the texture of a chicken wing, more like a fish cake.

I have updated our blog with a few things for the last two weeks. It’s been so busy that I just haven’t had time and been a bit tired.

Partners’ Farewell Dinner at PS Cafe

It’s almost the end of Period 3 of Ron’s school and this is the time when quite a few people will migrate to the Fontainbleu campus. So the girls decided it would be a good idea to have a farewell dinner. The wonderful dinner was planned by Sofia. She reserved a large table for all of us girls at PS Cafe near Dempsey Road. PS stands for “Project Shop”.

I ordered the Roast Leg of Lamb: Australian Lamb rolled with mushroom duxelle on roasted potato, pumpkin and parsnip with Syrian fig jam and gravy.

After that I still had dessert of ginger pudding with Earl Grey creme anglaise. Oh, this was yummy! I really loved the Earl Grey creme.

But next time I’m going to try their cakes:

I think we all had a good time and it gave us a chance to catch up a bit before we separate.

We’re having fun now 🙂

We headed over to Cafe Del Mar on Sentosa to celebrate Gladys’ birthday. It’s a pretty chill place and it was quite nice to have a glass of champagne and spend the evening among friends.

My first lecture at NUS

I had quite the exhausting day today… I stayed up late this whole weekend working on my lecture for the 2nd year pharmacy students. I was a bit stressed but I’m not sure why. Perhaps because it’s been more than 2 years since I’ve given a full length lecture. It was a very busy morning at the Cancer Centre so I didn’t get to leave until 1:30pm although my lecture was at 2pm. So I didn’t have a chance to go have lunch then had to hike about 15 minutes to NUS to meet up with Joyce before heading to the Lecture Theater (LT). After my 1hr 45min lecture, I had to hike back to NUH to go back to work. It was still quite busy so I didn’t get to leave until after 6pm to head to my Chinese class. All the buses to the MRT were full so I didn’t get to the MRT until after 6:30pm and got to my class exactly at 7:00pm. I had class until 9:30pm then headed home.

What a long day…

CNY Party at my workplace

It was such a busy day today… even though we did all we could to do things efficiently so that we could head to our CNY party at work. The pharmacy organized a big party at the Staff Club at NUH, which is basically a workout and rest room for the staff, it even has motorized massage chairs to relax in. The party today had lion dances, food, games, singing, and prizes. Ron and I only stayed for a bit of it though because I was really tired.

We all received red pocket when we entered and each had a number for the lucky draw. I gave all of mine to our pharmacy assistants and technicians to see if they’d be lucky.

Long Beach Revisited

This week was Ron’s school’s “Dragon Week” so they’ve been having events most days: movies, lectures, parties, lunches, dinner, etc. Tonight (unfortunately scheduled for V-day) was dinner at Long Beach Seafood at IMM. We had dinner here the first month we arrived in Singapore but this time it was free 🙂

Yummy chili crab again among other things… we of course again ate too much but I think it was a hit with all the students who are only here for a short period of time.
