Mommy At Home

Friday, February 28, 2014

Simon’s lunch of mini chicken tacos, carrots, strawberries, and a chocolate chip cookie. It was Simon’s teacher’s birthday this week but we didn’t have time to bake cookies from scratch. Instead we baked up these premade Nestle Toll House refrigerator cookies which were still pretty yummy.

I spent the day at home today preparing for Simon’s birthday party this weekend. I went to Costco to buy food and supplies, to 99 Ranch to order the cake, and Target for some other craft supplies. I baked fresh chocolate chip oatmeal cookies and prepared some “slice and bake” refrigerator cookie dough. I didn’t quite get done everything that I wanted to but still have time on Saturday.

Here is Iris during her daily constitutional outside in the backyard. She loves looking at the tree branches and just seems to enjoy being outside.

Simon got to play with one of the party favors for his guests, a glider.

Babies are easily fascinated. Today Iris was playing with her diaper (a clean one!). She kept on trying to put it on her head like a hat. Silly baby.

Today, Simon was a good big brother and helped me give Iris a bath. They were splashing around together.

Big “Cheeezz”!

Iris is a lot better. No more fever. Just still a little bit of runny nose and random coughing. The cold never seemed to bother her much during the day, she still had energy and was playful. Just at night she had trouble sleeping when her nose got stuffed up. She might also be teething since she keeps putting her fingers in her mouth.

A strange remedy but seemed to actually work was to massage Baby Vicks on her feet and put on footie PJs at night. It seemed to help her from coughing at night. Whether it be some absorption of the medicine or pressure therapy, I’m going to remember this from now on and try it again if she gets sick again.
