Delfina Pizzeria
http://www.pizzeriadelfina.com/index.html
We went out to try out Delfina Pizzeria in Pac Heights tonight. We’ve heard rave reviews of their location in the Mission but wasn’t looking forward to a long wait in line at the Mission so chose the newly opened one close to our apt.
We shared a delicious bottle of wine and started off with their yummy breadsticks.
We started with their tripe appetizer served with chili oil (delicious! spicy that it gets you in the back of your throat at the end) and some sea salt.
This was a pork pasta dish. The pork was more of a thinly sliced pork roll with a side of very yummy mac ‘n’ cheese. The pork a bit fatty. The sauce was yummy.
Last but not least, the salsiccia pizza with homemade fennel sausage, tomato, bell pepers, onions, and mozzarella. Everything was very fresh and the dough nice and chewy. I felt the toppings were the right portion but Ron said he felt it a bit lacking, he needed a bit more toppings and more spice. On the side they provide a stick of dried rosemary (?), grated cheese, and dried red chili peppers.
Overall, a nice evening. We sat outside and with the heaters above, it was perfect Friday evening.

One of the reasons why I fell in love…

Ron is so cute/funny sometimes. He does unexpected things like packing me this super cute lunch!
We went to the Kukje, a Korean supermarket in Daly City, after seeing Aliens vs. Monsters and picked up a lot of goodies for dinner for the next few days. Last night he was making dinner for himself (since I went out to Hotei) and I guess made a little extra for me.
I bought this thermos-like thing for keeping food warm which has three little compartments and comes with portable chopsticks. I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never used it, until today! The containers are white rice, spicy broiled pork, and kimchi (seaweed, Napa cabbage, and sprouts).
Yes, I’m a lucky gal!
He cooked dinner after we got home from the gym tonight. He cooked the pre-marinated kalbi (short ribs) and some vegetables and we had some more of the Korean small dishes. Had to share the mini marinated crabs we bought. You eat the whole thing, shell and all… they are a bit sweet and salty.
Tartine Lemon Bars on Brown Butter Shortbread
So here are the resulting lemon bars from those lemons leftover from the lemon cornmeal cookies. I first made these lemon bars at our friend Susan’s place with their Tartine Bakery cookbook. Susan gave me the book for Christmas so thought I’d whip up the lemon bars because they are oh so good.
