Starbucks Salad

There is a Starbucks near my work so I’ll treat myself to a pastry or lunch there every once in a while. I try to avoid the coffee though since I already have my Peet’s coffee in the morning, brewed at home.

Today I tried a Starbucks Curry Chicken Salad over Couscous. I had just seen Rachael Ray on Food Network making Shrimp Curry over Lime Mint Couscous and I wondered if those tastes go together?

Surprisingly, it tasted pretty good. The chicken salad had apples, pineapples, and a sort of thai spiced curry flavor. The couscous was a bit dry but I think it needed to be there or else I’d still have been hungry.

Nubi Yogurt

We tried Nubi Yogurt today while visiting Ron’s family in Millbrae. It’s basically a self serve frozen yogurt place and you add your own toppings. Potentially it could be healthy but they have add ins like cookie dough, cheesecake, and mochi… along with fruits. I agree with my bro-in-law Henry that taro is a good flavor.

Not sure how much it costs since it was Henry’s treat but if you’re in Millbrae, I think it’s worth a try.

BBQ at Tomales Bay

Our friends Susan and Ken planned a trip to Tomales Bay to BBQ and have some fresh oysters.

It takes about 1 to 1.5 hour to get there and it’s a long windy road. Easy to get car sick so be careful.

Ron and I got there about 10 minutes before everyone else and secured the last table and grill. Once everyone else arrived, we fired up the grill and started eating and enjoying each other’s company. The oysters and clams were really good and fresh.

Got a bit of a sunburn and we slept for 5 hours after we got back! But good day, weather was beautiful. Can’t wait to do it again next Labor Day weekend!

Joyce visits SF!

Joyce is back in the bay area for the week and she came to hang out with us today. We picked her up at the Ferry Building in SF as she had come in from Sacramento by Amtrak to Emeryville and taken a bus. She said she’s an expert in this route because she did it all the time while going to UCSF. I had no idea this was the only way to come back to SF without a car from Sacramento!

We did our favorite things, eat and shop! We started at Beard Papa with a strawberry cheesecake stick and vanilla cream puff. Went for some shopping and ended up staying at Old Navy for almost 3 hours! Ron recommended we go to Citizen Cupcake on the 3rd floor of Virgin Records and we were glad we went. They serve hot chocolate in a BOWL! The chai latte is served with a glass of steamed milk and a pot of chai tea so you add yourself. We had a chocolate cupcake and ginger spice cookie. Yum!

Ron met up with us for dinner and so we walked over to Plouf on Belden Place. It’s one our favorite restaurants in SF so we wanted to share it with Joyce. We ordered two types of mussels, Pastis and Coconut Broth with 2 orders of fries. I really like the Coconut Broth, reminds me of Thai food. Ron also ordered the duck. I recommend just getting the mussels when you eat at plouf. Order more fries or ask for more bread to soak up the soup. YUM!

Sadly, Joyce is leaving back to Singapore on Tuesday. I’m glad she came out to hang out with us and got to meet Mochi and Misu. Meow meow.

Naan-N-Curry

Ron and I didn’t know what to have for dinner and ended up on Irving Street so ordered from Naan-N-Curry. We ordered the paneer tikka masala (cheese in cream sauce) and chicken tikka masala with garlic naan.

Our favorite chicken tikka masala is a restaurant in Walnut Creek. This wasn’t quite as flavorful and the naan was already soggy by the time we got home. A bit disappointing.
