Rocky’s Pizza on Sunset Way

We’re leaving for our trip to the Philippines tomorrow evening. Since I took tomorrow off as well, we had time to go out for a nice dinner.

We decided to visit Sunset Way again and try another restaurant. This time it was Rocky’s Pizza, apparently a fixture in Singapore for more than 20 years.

The garlic bread had lots of yummy roasted garlic.

I tried a blueberry soda… tasted like candy!

We shared a nice bottle of champagne with our friends Timo & Elina.

Ron had the spaghetti and meatballs. A nice large portion.

Timo & I ordered calzones. This is both of them, not just one order! 😛

Look at all that yummy cheese!

I can’t wait for real Italian food when we get to Europe 🙂

Mos Burger

I can’t remember if I’ve ever talked about Mos Burger but it’s a fast food joint where you get your burger on a rice bun! It’s a nice alternative to a bread bun since it gets less soggy.

Tonight I had an unagi rice burger. Tastes like sushi!

They also had this kiddie drink made of konnyaku. It’s almost like JELL-O but softer. It’s supposed to be good for your digestion. It’s hard to suck through a straw though but a good dessert drink.

End of P5 BBQ

Since school would be ending soon, we decided to have one more BBQ at our condo so that everyone could clean out their refrigerators and cupboards.

We had healthy foods:

Lots of meats:

And many types of drinks (this one tastes like star anise):

We had a good turn out and everyone had a pretty good time I think.

Clay Figurines

Just thought I’d share something my co-worker made. Our senior technician used to make these cute clay figurines and she brought them to work today to show me. They are very cute and detailed.

I especially liked the flowers. Maybe one day I can try to make these too…

Pachi Pachi (Cuppage Plaza) and Swensen’s (Orchard Rd)

Tonight we took a little trip to this restaurant that Ron saw one day while walking around Orchard area. It’s this restaurant called Pachi-Pachi and they specialize in okonomiyaki and yakisoba. When we visited Japan for our honeymoon, we found this great “hole in the wall” place on the 2nd floor of this tiny building that had really delicious okonomiyaki and yakisoba… we are always trying to find another restaurant like it, except closer than Japan!

Anyways, so we thought we’d go try out this restaurant. We ordered the seafood egg yakisoba and the pork okonomiyaki.

We shared a small bottle of cold sake. It was light and sweet.

They served us a cold cucumber salad with sliced fish cake (or squid cake, not sure which) with a creamy nutty sauce. Very yummy.

This is the seafood yakisoba with egg (the egg is extra).

When you cut it open, it’s filled with yummy noodles. The noodles were a bit thin, we remember them being thicker. The two sauces on top were very good though, a sweet mayo and the yakisoba suace, a bit sour and sweet.

This is the okonomiyaki which is like a meat and vegetable pancake. They cooked it really well though, crispy on both sides but moist and tasty inside. The pork was in very small pieces but the cabbage pieces were a bit large, more like square pieces rather than shredded thinly.

If you need help locating the place, look for this sign:

I think this place is probably pretty busy for lunch. We were the only customers for dinner. I’m sure they have lunch specials.

Afterwards, we took a stroll down to Orchard Rd and stopped at Swensen’s. We ordered the Nutty Mighty Sundae. It’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Macadamia Nut, and Mocha Almond Fudge covered with whole macadamia nuts, peanuts, almonds, hot fudge, and caramel.

Topped with a chocolate covered cherry and wafer… yum yum! A good way to end the night…
