Pachi Pachi (Cuppage Plaza) and Swensen’s (Orchard Rd)

Tonight we took a little trip to this restaurant that Ron saw one day while walking around Orchard area. It’s this restaurant called Pachi-Pachi and they specialize in okonomiyaki and yakisoba. When we visited Japan for our honeymoon, we found this great “hole in the wall” place on the 2nd floor of this tiny building that had really delicious okonomiyaki and yakisoba… we are always trying to find another restaurant like it, except closer than Japan!

Anyways, so we thought we’d go try out this restaurant. We ordered the seafood egg yakisoba and the pork okonomiyaki.

We shared a small bottle of cold sake. It was light and sweet.

They served us a cold cucumber salad with sliced fish cake (or squid cake, not sure which) with a creamy nutty sauce. Very yummy.

This is the seafood yakisoba with egg (the egg is extra).

When you cut it open, it’s filled with yummy noodles. The noodles were a bit thin, we remember them being thicker. The two sauces on top were very good though, a sweet mayo and the yakisoba suace, a bit sour and sweet.

This is the okonomiyaki which is like a meat and vegetable pancake. They cooked it really well though, crispy on both sides but moist and tasty inside. The pork was in very small pieces but the cabbage pieces were a bit large, more like square pieces rather than shredded thinly.

If you need help locating the place, look for this sign:

I think this place is probably pretty busy for lunch. We were the only customers for dinner. I’m sure they have lunch specials.

Afterwards, we took a stroll down to Orchard Rd and stopped at Swensen’s. We ordered the Nutty Mighty Sundae. It’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Macadamia Nut, and Mocha Almond Fudge covered with whole macadamia nuts, peanuts, almonds, hot fudge, and caramel.

Topped with a chocolate covered cherry and wafer… yum yum! A good way to end the night…
