Yogurt Mustache

Day 253

Simon’s yogurt mustache.

Ron bought this kid version yogurt snacks that Simon seems to like. So let’s hope he keeps on eating them! Simon also had his first spaghetti meal today made by Gerber. He wasn’t so sure about his first taste but eventually started to like it. It’s made with some fruit purees so it is a bit sweet plus has interesting textures that he is probably not used to.

There are some mini pastas mixed in with the tomato and meat.

Simon has had a bit of a cough and runny nose during this week so has been sleeping a lot, we hope he recovers soon.

Bare Belly

Day 252

Simon went to visit grandpa but had to wait in the car a little bit first. He just woke up it looks like.

Then he proceeds to climb all over his car seat.

and have fun playing in it while waiting.

Simon’s cute little bear sweatshirt.

We need to do Simon’s laundry as he is running out of PJs to wear at night. We resorted to this because it has been cold at night and he needed something warm and comfortable. Unfortunately he has almost grown out of it and it’s the first time he’s wearing it. Look at his little belly sticking out!

Defy Daddy

Day 251

Now we would like to think of this set of PJs as a Japanese yukata (rather than a dress)

I can’t believe that some people mistaken Simon for a girl. Doesn’t he look like a boy?

Simon must be teething again since he is starting to drool again and chew on things… like Hello Kitty.

Simon is starting to show us he’s willing to push our buttons a little. Here he is trying to defy daddy and pull on the foam edges of his play area.

Tweety on my mind

Day 250

Simon gave us another rough night. He woke up several times and kept on whimpering and crying. He finally quieted down after he had some water to drink… he ended up waking up at 6:30am, having some milk then wanting to eat breakfast. He usually goes right back to bed but I guess with daylight savings ending, his tummy was already hungry for some solid food. He had some avocado, prunes, and sweet potato puffs.

We played for a while then he went back for a nap at 9:30am then kept on sleeping until we decided to wake him up at 11:30am for lunch. For lunch he had more avocado, sweet potato puffs, and mozzarella cheese. Seems happy about it, doesn’t he?

In the late afternoon, we went to the birthday party of Connor and Toby, who will turn 1-year old next week. There were a lot of people there so Simon had a good time observing them and playing with some of the other babies. Simon almost had a meltdown because he was exhausted but I was able to soothe him asleep in a secluded corner so he took a little nap. After we left the party though, Simon was wide awake and ready to play. He was entertained with his toys for a while but got bored and kept on grabbing on to me and trying to crawl over my legs.

He was playing with this plush Tweety basket and I helped him put it on his head (and yes, that is a Hello Kitty attached to it) and he didn’t seem to mind. He happily crawled around with it on his head for a while. Simon got tired around 6pm so I put him down for a nap. By 7:30pm, he hadn’t woken up yet so I went to wake him to see if he wanted to eat dinner. He protested a little bit then seemed to wake up but once I started to feed him, he started to rub his eyes and whine a bit. He was still really tired so he just had some milk and went back to bed. He must still be tired from waking up so often the last two nights. I hope he’ll have a better night tonight and not wake up too early in the morning.

Harvest at Captain Vineyards 2010

Day 249

Today we visited Captain Vineyards for their fall harvest. Since Simon was a bit feverish yesterday, he woke up many times throughout the night so kept us awake. We all ended up sleeping in a little bit longer than usual so didn’t arrive to the vineyard until 9:30am. Simon all dressed up ready for his day at the vineyard.

Since I was taking care of Simon, I couldn’t help with the harvesting so instead, I had some breakfast of some fresh eggs and sausage.

Fresh from the chicken coop.

When we were here earlier this year, these chickens were babies, now they’re all grown.

Most of the crushing of the grapes was done by late morning.

Love this sign…

There were a lot of volunteers this year so the harvesting was finished pretty quickly.

There were a few vines remaining that will be harvested next week.

As always they provide a great BBQ and Ron did the grilling (along with helping earlier with carrying the lugs from the vineyard to the crusher).

Simon spent most of the time observing. He had a short nap. Ate some lunch. Checked out the chickens. Laughed at the dogs barking. And was carried around most of the day by mommy.

Their grapes look nice and juicy.

I look forward to sampling the wine when the time comes.
