Simon at Work

Friday, April 4, 2014

Simon had a checkup in SF today so afterwards we went to visit Daddy Ron’s office and have lunch with him. At Daddy’s desk.

I gave Simon the choice to go back to school or come with me to work and he said he wanted to come with me. So we went to get him his favorite pearl drink and I put on a movie for him on the iPad while I was working.

He watched “Frozen”, had a snack, did some Chinese character tracing on the iPad, went to watch Planes in the stroller, then fell asleep since he did not nap at all today.

After we closed, I strolled him all the way to the car in the parking garage and he hadn’t budged. I had to wake him up to get into the car to go home. Simon said later that he would go back to school next time instead of coming with me to work since it wasn’t as fun at work. At least he got to try it so now he knows work isn’t really fun for kids. School and home are better.

So Iris slept about 8 hours last night (8:10pm-4:30am)! I hope for a repeat tonight!

Ready to Walk?

Thursday, April 3, 2014

Simon’s lunch of chicken nuggets, carrots, strawberries, raspberries, animal crackers, and a mini Kit Kat.

Iris usually doesn’t like the walker because she couldn’t really move but today she was super excited and actually made a few rounds around. She’s practicing those leg muscles to get ready to walk! 🙂

Simon and me. I take so many pictures of the kids, there are only a handful with me. I remember reading somewhere to take more pictures with them so they will have them in the future when you are no longer with them.

After the field trip to Spiral Gardens, the kids have been learning more about plant growth so they did this chart in class. Simon’s plant hasn’t sprouted anything yet so we are still waiting.

Another project about night and day.

Iris’s new favorite position is getting up on her knees or crouching.

Yummy Spaghetti and Slippery When Wet

Tuesday, April 1, 2014

Simon’s lunch of pasta with steak and carrots, watermelon, animal crackers, and some chocolate sea salt quinoa snacks (from Costco, delicious!).

I made a quick spaghetti and meat sauce for dinner tonight and Iris had a good time with slurping up the noodles and even liked eating the ground beef. She got quite messy.

It was pretty wet out so when we came into the house, we got the ground a bit wet before removing our shoes. Simon tried to run into the living room and slipped and his his cheek on a cabinet which bruised up a bit.

He only cried for a minute because it was more shocking than it was painful. He was all smiles later. Another example of “regression”: sitting in the baby walker.

Iris wondering why Simon is sitting in her seat?

Simon Regression?

Monday, March 31, 2014

Simon’s lunch of mini corn dogs, strawberries, raspberries, grapes, and a fortune cookie. We had ice cream cake last night and Simon still wanted a fortune cookie after dinner but we thought it’d be too much sugar for so late in the evening so I said I’d pack one for him for lunch and he said “okay”. In general, Simon is a pretty reasonable boy and will accept plausible explanations. This isn’t the case when he is tired though, then he would just throw a tantrum demanding a fortune cookie and stomp and kick his feet.

Iris is curious about what Simon does at this table all day. He likes to draw and has been using crayons and markers. His favorite things to draw are cars and planes. Occasionally he will draw zebras and our family. For now, Iris just likes to grab at his crayons and markers.

We have brought out a lot of Simon’s baby toys for Iris to play with and Simon is always “trying” them out again. An expected “regression” but we tell him they are toys for babies and he has his own toys for little boys. He still likes his ride-on car but is definitely too big for it.
