Cat Tree Love

Finally after a few weeks of enticing the cats on the cat tree with catnip and hidden treats, it looks like at least Mochi and Misu are taking advantage of the higher perch and comfy carpet. It’s pretty amazing how they can climb to the top of the thing and pretty scary when you hear them using their claws. They enjoy sitting in it to look out the window as well.

But sometimes Mochi likes to sit beneath on the panda plush, it’s super comfy afterall.

Stacks Restaurant

We had lunch at Stacks Restaurant in Burlingame with Ron’s friend from high school and her husband. I’ve been to the Stacks in Hayes Valley for pancakes so was eager to try something savory this time.

I ordered the corned beef and onion skillet with scrambled eggs and whole wheat toast. There was tons of melted cheese on top. It just needed a bit of ketchup and salt & pepper.

Ron ordered the banana nut waffles.

… with a side of bacon!

It was a beautiful day all around the bay area. I wonder how long this weather will last… but it’s back to work tomorrow. SIGH.

But finally caught up on our blog, I didn’t realize I hadn’t written any posts since Sept 11th! Guess I’ve just been lazy 😛

Ying Kee Noodle House

I had lunch with my parents at Ying Kee Noodle House in Oakland. My mom said their dumpling noodles soup was really good so thought I’d try it.

The shrimp dumplings were huge, at least 3 to 4 whole shrimps in each dumpling and the bowl of noodles was huge, way too much for me to finish. The broth is light, not too salty. It was really inexpensive too, less than $6 a bowl. Cheap eats.

Turtle Tower

I finally got to try the Pho Ga at Turtle Tower (as recommended on the 7×7 list). The restaurant menu states they serve their pho in the style of Ha Noi without bean sprouts and mint, just the noodles, broth, and meats.

I enjoyed the noodles and chicken but I think the broth at Hai Ky Mi Gia.

I had their three color bean drink. I love these and have never had a bad one yet.

Ron ordered the pork chop rice. He was impressed with the neatly fried egg.

I’m surprised I didn’t enjoy it was much as I thought I would. Maybe too much hype.

Paradise Kabab House

A few of Ron’s classmates from Singapore were visiting or have moved back to the bay area so we met up for dinner at Paradise Kabab House in Redwood City.

The food was delicious and the owners gave excellent service. I’d love to go back again.

The appetizers were delicious with the slices of bread/wraps.

Kashk-e-Bademjun: Eggplant mixed with tahini, garlic, olive oil, spices garnished with mint and whey.

Maast-o-Khiar: Homemade yogurt, mint and cucumber.

Each person was served a plate of rice with salad. The rice was so fragrant and yummy.

We ordered a selection of kababs: salmon, ground beef, chunks of boneless lamb, and marinated chunks of chicken thigh. Each platter was served with grilled tomatoes.

I was only disappointed that the restaurant closed at 9pm, plus everything else around also closed around that time. We had a good time catching up but it’s unfortunate we didn’t have more time.
