Tummy Time

“Mommy, WHY am I on my tummy? This feels weird.”

We started tummy time a few days ago and Iris didn’t mind much the first day but seems to get a progressively more puzzled look everyday. Maybe it’s just her developing eyes, she’s starting to show off her “Daddy Ron” big eyes. Like her big brother Simon big eyes.

Simon really loves to hang out with his little sister. He just wants to be next to her and touch her hand or head. He also worries when he hears her cry out or whimper, he says “Mei Mei is crying, let me go check on her!” He will wait for one of us to go too but will run quickly upstairs to her room and look to make sure she isn’t hurt or something. He even helped me put away her laundry which is probably a boring task for most 3 year olds but he was very eager to help. Today he also said “I love you, mei mei” and then gave her a kiss on the cheek. *heart melts*

Iris’ baby acne is clearing slowly. They are no longer all white and she has some clear sections on her forehead. I’m so in love with her chubby cheeks.

Iris, Happy 3 Weeks!

Monday, June 3, 2013

Time really goes by fast. I can’t believe Iris is already 3 weeks old! Happy 3 weeks my little baby!

I also can’t believe that Simon is 3 years old and weighs 36 lbs! We spent some time together today drawing pictures, tracing letters, reading, and putting together puzzles. Simon sat in my lap while reading and I didn’t realize how heavy he is now.

Simon and I spent a good amount of time together because Iris slept a lot during the day so I hope that means she is growing. Here is Simon holding a bunch of his plushies. I made the purple dinosaur as a gift for when he visited us in the hospital. He had been asking for a long necked purple dinosaur after seeing one in a book called “Dinosaurs Love Underpants”. Find the pattern here. I just added the scales on the back.

Here is the amigurumi dinosaur by itself.

Something I have been wanting to capture is when Iris sneezes, she makes an “Ahhh” sound afterwards. I was filming her this evening and finally caught a sneeze. Instead of “Ah-choo”, she does “Choo-ahh”.

And yes, you heard it, I almost called her Simon instead of Iris. I have to catch myself at times when talking to Iris. I haven’t started to accidentally call Simon as Iris and I hope that doesn’t happen 😛

It’s Not Complicated

Iris did not want to wake up this morning. *yawn*

My kids! Used to be just “kid”, still getting used to saying it in the plural form.

Simon’s reenactment of his favorite commercial. It’s not complicated.

The original commercial if you’re not familiar with it.

Iris really did just want to sleep all day. It might be due to the fact that she watched and listened to some television this morning. I brought her into our family room to sit with Simon and chat with Daddy and the bright lights from the TV and sounds might have overloaded her and just made her tired. I just hope she won’t be up all night when she wakes up. Usually she is pretty good about going back to sleep as long as the room stays dark. She still wakes up about every two to three hours starting from around 8pm so I usually stay up until about 11pm and end up waking up three times during the night and she sleeps until 9 or 10am. How nice it must be to be a baby…

Tilden Park Steam Trains

Saturday, June 1, 2013

Daddy took Simon to Tilden park today to visit the animals at the Little Farm and then to take a train ride. At the steam trains, they were having a 61st anniversary meet-up so had at least four trains running all day. They are there on Sunday too if you want to swing by. This is Simon’s “cheese” although he hasn’t quite mastered looking at the camera while smiling.

Mommy and Iris stayed home. While Iris was napping, I cleaned up our baby bath so Iris could have her first bath at home. We haven’t had a chance to bathe her because it was so cold before but with the weather warming up, we thought it would be a good time to try. She had a puzzled expression when she first touched the water but didn’t seem to mind the rest of the bath. Here she is being dried off with her Hello Kitty hooded towel.

Now her hair is feather soft and she smells like my favorite Mustela brand body wash and shampoo. Her skin is still peeling but we will just have to wait it out. She was immersed in water for 9 months and now being exposed to air, everything is drying out. The doctor says she should lose about three layers of her skin in the next few weeks then to use moisturizers and such after that.
