Simon’s lunch of salmon and carrot sushi plus some mangoes and grapes. It’s getting easier for me to roll these sushi rolls but I need to figure out how to cut the pieces without smashing the roll. I think our knives need sharpening.

Iris’ favorite spot is this corner of the light table that Ron made for Simon. Simon uses the table for drawing, coloring, and tracing. Iris likes to pull herself up on this corner and reach for stuff that is on top of the table. Sometimes she encroaches on Simon’s space and he gets a bit upset but although he might raise his voice, he is a good big brother and doesn’t push her. He waits for us to encourage her out of the way so he can have his space back.

Kids took a bath together tonight since Ron was out late and it was easier to do one bath rather than two. They had a lot of fun together splashing around although Simon didn’t really want to take a picture.

Simon’s lunch of grilled salmon, pasta, grapes and carrots. Simon seems to like things pretty plain, like salmon just seasoned with salt and pasta with butter or cheese but not pasta sauce or other ingredients. Ron put some sweet sauce on the pasta and Simon ended up not eating his pasta since he said he didn’t like it. Food purist?

Simon and Iris had a great time playing peek-a-boo with Iris trying to find Simon and Simon popping out from his house. She usually has a pretty quiet giggle so it was fun to see her “laughing out loud”.

Super happy baby!

Iris did not take her morning nap so was a little bit tired during lunchtime. I caught her falling asleep while eating. She was more obvious the first time she did it but I caught this video on the second time as she is almost dozing off. But after she finished lunch, she still did not want to nap.

The weather was a bit questionable today… would it rain or not? We ventured out to the Rose Gardens park in the late afternoon since it didn’t look like it was going to rain even though it felt like it was going to. We parked on Euclid, walked down a path to the underground tunnel.

Iris had a short nap before waking up to swing a little. She’s always so happy in the swing.

Ron and Simon went on the concrete slide they had in the park. You use cardboard to help you slide down and can go pretty fast. Simon was a little hesitant at first and probably scared himself a few times with the speed but still continued to go up and down. He was ready to relax and head out in his new wagon from Grandpa and Grandma Tam.

We stopped by Ici for an ice cream treat. We had a little bit of a wait, maybe 20-30 minutes.

I tried the coconut passion fruit and candied meyer lemon. Iris was curious to try some but made a sour face when she did try it. She ended up sharing the cone with me.

A nice relaxing day is just what I needed after the stressful rainy party weekend last week.

Happy morning kiddos! Iris loves her blueberries and Simon loves his cars.

Simon had his first swim lesson this morning. He was a bit hesitant as we were waiting and was saying “I’m not sure if I can do this” and it was partially my fault for getting there too early and having him think about it too long. But once he saw the other kids his age, he happily got into the water and did a really great job. He enjoyed dunking his head, listened to the instructor, and he even swam a few feet by himself from the teacher’s arms to the wall. Parents had to watch from the outside so the pictures are a little blurry.

After swimming, we went to meet our friends for lunch. My pharmacy school friend Will was visiting from southern California and he went to UC Berkeley so we all played tourist for the day. We had lunch at Pedros Brazil Cafe for lunch. We went to the actual restaurant and not the little corner shack. They have a nice patio in the back, delicious mango smoothies, delicious marinated tri tip, and delicious garlic cilantro sauce. So tasty! We are definitely coming back here again. We had a mini pharmacy school reunion with our friends Jen and Phil and their kids too.

After lunch, we went to Purple Kow since it is Phil’s favorite boba place. I wasn’t that impressed by it the first time I went but tried the “D3” on his recommendation: ice milk with pudding, caramel, and pearls with 50% sugar. I still love my Sweetheart Cafe in Oakland Chinatown.

Our pharmacy school friends Helen and Linda came to join us later on Berkeley campus next to VLSB. Us girls with the kiddos.

I think we are all glad to be done with pharmacy school but are glad that we went or else we wouldn’t have become friends.

After a full day, Simon was pretty exhausted at the end of it. He tried resting in Iris’ car seat but it wasn’t really comfortable.

Tomorrow we “spring forward”!

Simon’s lunch of rousong and carrot sushi, his new favorite Korean melon, and his last cookie that he decorated.

Simon asked me the other day why he didn’t have rain boots. He grew out of the ones he had and I didn’t think he really needed another pair. But I broke down and bought him a new pair and a size up so hopefully he can use them next rainy season. He loves his new fireman rain boots.

Little Iris is almost all better. She is really mobile now so we have to keep our eyes on her at all times. I’m impressed on how fast she can crawl.
