Babbling Baby

Day 333 = January 29, 2011

Simon has expanded his repertoire of sounds. Instead of just da-da, now he says ba-ba and sometimes ra-ra, ma-ma, and la-la. Right now we think they’re just sounds but eventually they should be linked to objects or people.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I was treated to a bouquet of flowers! Ron surprised me with this little bouquet. It was made up of peonies and a very fragrant flower that I don’t know the name of.

Unfortunately the white ones seem to attract flies. They have a very sweet smell.

Simon had a very weird sleeping schedule today. He woke up at 6:30am and didn’t want to sleep after drinking his morning milk so Ron had to wake up and feed him breakfast. Then he wanted a snack at 10am. He had some red seedless grapes.

He didn’t want to sleep until almost 11:30 so only got about an hour nap before we went for Gymboree. He had his late lunch in the car in the parking lot.

Then he didn’t nap again until 3:45pm as we were driving and only for 10-15 minutes. He went for a nap again at 6:30pm and hasn’t woken up for dinner. He’s probably making up for the lost naptime today but still, it’s unusual how he went to bed so early. He didn’t even have dinner. We’ll see if he sleeps through the night.

Yesterday I had a bit of free time and did some baking. It’s been a while since I’ve made anything so wasn’t sure how it would turn out. I made this Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe that I found online. I brought part of the batch to work and they were gone by lunchtime.

They didn’t turn out as red as the pictures from the blog I got the recipe from. I maybe didn’t add enough coloring or added too much cocoa. The outside of the cookie ended up a bit crunchy so these would go good with a glass of milk or cup of coffee.

Another picture I have to add is one from dinner last night. Ron’s dad sent up the pictures from his camera, including one where Simon received a red envelope from the Grandma and Grandpa Chung which is going into his savings.

Only a few days until the start of the Year of the Rabbit.
