After a full and busy day with Grandpa, Simon spent some time this evening splashing in the bath tub. Thank you to Nimisha, Nitin, and Aanya for the bath toy!
We have to give him a bath almost every night now since he makes such a big mess with eating dinner. We’ve discovered the last two days that he really like avocados! He’ll take pieces from our fingers into his mouth and also try to take the piece from us and try to put them in his mouth himself. I hope since it has good fat that it will keep him full to sleep through the night. This morning he woke up a bit earlier than normal (around 5:30am) asking for food.
Simon hated sitting in the Bumbo when he was first learning to sit up by himself. He kept on wiggling to try to get out of it. We tried to feed him in it but he would also struggle to get out. But I tried it this morning to let Simon have some puffs for breakfast and it seemed to work well. I like it better so that I don’t have to buckle him into the booster seat.
Simon went out and about all day with daddy. They went to visit Grandpa Tam and Simon was fascinated by his ID badge.
After being out all day, Simon was exhausted.
Tonight we had takeout from Hukilau.
From top left and clockwise: pele wings, taro fries, kalua pork burrito, and chicken katsu with a fried egg.
A bit too much food so we were stuffed and have plenty for the next day.
Another picture with the green mushroom. Simon likes to play with it now, trying to roll it around. Since it is strangely shaped, it doesn’t roll predictably so I think Simon is fascinated by it.
I had a delicious tiramisu cupcake made by Cupkates. Thank you Virginia!
Only complaint, a bit too much frosting but very delicious crust and filled cupcake.
Simon is easily bored and we need to rotate through his toys. He’s been fascinated by this Fisher Price Poppin’ Pals toy but isn’t really sure how to use it. There are various knobs, switches, or buttons to press to make the animals pop up so he hasn’t figured out how to do it yet, he knows how to close them though.
So Simon has become a picky eater. He no longer wants to eat pureed foods, he has been refusing the food we’ve been trying to feed him with a spoon. Instead, he prefers to pick up finger foods by himself and TRY to put them into his mouth.
He ends up making a big mess!
We’re afraid he might not be getting enough food but it seems he is trying to make it up by drinking more milk. But he is probably okay since he is still very active. He loves playing with his piano that we borrowed from Auntie Zoe.
Ron blew bubbles for Simon today and Simon just looks very confused…
Simon has picked up “running”… with assistance of course! He gets super excited before he takes off running.
Simon spent the morning playing with his new piano. Thank you Auntie Zoe for letting us borrow it for Simon.
Simon likes playing with his Super Mario Bros mushroom. Simon’s first picture with this plush is when he was only 26 days old. What a difference six months make.
In the late afternoon, we went to Auntie Patsy’s house to hang out and do some cooking. I made some pumpkin cream cheese stuffed French toast. I found the pumpkin cream cheese at Trader Joe’s yesterday so thought it’d be good for our brunch today. Simon seemed like he wanted to have some of my breakfast.
He let me eat half of it before he got restless and wanted to play.
Our little monkey boy!
Finally nap time. He had a weird morning. He woke up at 4:30am, ate, slept until 8am, napped in the car on the ride over to Patsy’s from 10:30-11am, played, and finally fell asleep at 2pm, woke up after about 30 minutes, soothed him back to sleep, and he only slept another 30 minutes or so before getting up.
Check out that little chin!
When I left Patsy’s house around 5pm, he finally slept again for a while but woke up after I got out of the car. Not sure how it will affect his sleep tonight.
By the time we got home, it was dinnertime for all of us. We let Simon have another attempt at the organic puffs. It’s so cute to watch him try to pick up a piece and put it into his mouth. I realize he really doesn’t like the vegetable puffs… he prefers the banana. I hope this doesn’t reflect his future eating habits.
This time he was actually able to eat a few by making them soft enough to mash and swallow.
“Hi, my name is Simon and I am seven months old today!”
Today I decided to play with mommy’s Tokidoki Hello Kitty.
Then decided to take a nap. Simon has started sleeping on his stomach now. Maybe his hair in the back will start to grow back.
A smile for everyone after waking up from a nap.
We went to celebrate the day with attending Uncle Al’s birthday at Chevy’s in Foster City then doing some shopping at Carter’s, Target, and Trader Joe’s. I will attempt to make him some homemade food this week since it seems like he is getting bored of the Gerber prepared foods. I bought some organic chicken, yogurt, tomatoes, avocados, etc so we’ll see what I can whip up. At Target, I bought these organic puffs that Uncle Al recommended so let Simon try them out tonight. He was very willing to put them into his mouth but wasn’t really sure what to do with it once it was in his mouth. He looks like he chokes a bit in the video but he ends up being fine so no need to worry.
I think Simon wanted a better gift than some clothes and bibs from Carter’s… he’s telling me he wants my laptop…
