More Laughing Out Loud

Thursday, March 20, 2014

Homemade lunchables: crackers, carrots, ham, and cheese. Green grapes and apple pears. Simon said he really liked this lunch and wanted it again tomorrow. He didn’t realize it was to make cracker sandwiches though so he said he would do it tomorrow. He also didn’t eat the fruit until I picked him up from school and ate it as a big snack.

He made Iris laugh out loud by playing peek-a-boo with her.

I love Iris’ random expressions… this one is sort of confused?

Cranky Mornings

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

I think we must still be out of sorts from our weekend away. Iris has been waking up whining and wanting to be held, kind of tired, and sort of wanting to go back to sleep. Today I had to occupy her for 10 minutes while I was getting dressed. I let her watch some Sesame Street and play with an empty San Pellegrino water bottle.

She still wasn’t really happy.

Good thing I brought pastries in Chinatown yesterday so didn’t have to do much for Simon’s lunch. Just packed two mini hot dog buns, carrots, apple pear, and strawberries.

Let’s go to a Masquerade Ball

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

Iris is in the mood where she prefers to move about on her own rather than being held ALL the time. She was wriggling to get out of my arms this morning so that she could try standing with support.

Simon had a better rest last night so wanted to go to school today. For lunch he had chicken nuggets, carrots, a fruit salad of mango, strawberries, and blueberries and two gummi bears. He almost finished everything except for a carrot. I was actually surprised he ate all the blueberries since he doesn’t usually request them but he recently said he liked them again. They used to be his favorite when he was a baby.

In the evening, Simon and Iris played with Duplos. Iris really just wanted to knock down everything we were building. I built a house and Simon built our cars, the sun, and all of us (Mommy, Daddy, Simon, Iris, and Annie). He even made us different heights like we are in real life.

Happy or Sad?

Happy! Let’s go to a masquerade ball!

It’s Easy Being Green

Monday, March 17, 2014

I don’t know why Kermit the Frog says it is not easy being green… Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Simon was too tired after our weekend trip to Lake Tahoe so really wanted to stay home from school today. He was a really good boy according to Annie. He ate a good lunch, played with Iris and kept quiet when Iris was sleeping, and just rested at home. He didn’t take a nap so was a little irritable in the evening but overall had a good day. These days, Simon has gotten into the habit of “doing work” before he is allowed to do something fun like watching TV. Work usually involves practicing writing or drawing. He did some coloring and drew the pictures below. They are of him riding on a scooter and Caden writing on a scooter. Caden is smaller since he is younger. I thought it was so cute.

Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park

Sunday, March 16, 2014

We ordered in for breakfast on our last day in Lake Tahoe. One of our favorite places is nearby called Driftwood Cafe. So far we have loved everything we have ordered. This time around the french toast and the loaded waffle were really delicious.

After checking out, we went exploring and ended up at Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park. On the way, we stopped by to take some pictures of Emerald Bay. Iris fell asleep during the car ride up.

At the park, it was $10 for parking and we took the wheelchair accessible trail to the water. It was a beautiful day.

Iris woke up for the stroller ride, drank some milk, then went back to sleep again.

Simon and Ron had fun with the pine cones on the beach. Ron spelled out the kids’ names and Simon made a heart.

Simon built a little “rock man” by stacking up some stones.

He really enjoyed climbing the rocks and hugging the trees. Actually, Ron asked Simon, “do you think you can reach your arms around the whole tree?” so Simon tried but, of course, couldn’t do it.

Iris spent most of the time napping again. I love her long lashes but yes, she does have chapped cheeks.

Awake in the car finally as we take a break for stretching before heading home.

We stopped by for dinner at Pacific East Mall in Richmond and shopped for some food at Ranch 99. Both kids love sitting in the shopping cart.

A nice warm bath to end the night.

Weekend excursions can be fun but also very tiring. Since Iris was still a bit sick, she had trouble sleeping at night so I was very tired most of the time and she was also very tired most of the time. Her nap and feeding schedule was all mixed up and she didn’t really eat much solid food, just wanted to drink milk, be held, and comforted. I don’t mine but my arms are really sore after holding her most of the weekend. It seems she is on the tail end of her illness so here’s to a better week!

A few more pictures from our trip, mostly the same but I couldn’t decide which were better:
