Day 40
Today Simon has a visit from Becky and her fiance Ron. It was a gloomy day here in San Francisco so it was nice to have them over instead of going out in the rain.
We will be taking Simon to their wedding in May but probably only to the reception and not the ceremony. I do not want to be one of those parents who are oblivious to their baby’s crying and let them ruin the ceremony. Who would want to have a baby screaming in the background while they are trying to say their vows?
It took Simon a while to take this afternoon nap but he always looks so peaceful when he finally does fall asleep. He seems to like to take a 2 hour nap in the late evening, play for a while, eat some more then will “go to bed” at 8-9pm. He’ll continue to wake up every 2.5-3 hours to eat but usually will fall right back asleep until about 8-9am the next morning. The last few days he’s been taking in 3 to 5 ounces of milk when he wakes up the first time after “going to bed”. It’s amazing to us since during the daytime, he takes in 1 to 3 ounces each time so we thought his stomach must be small but he does eat more often during the daytime (every 1-2 hours) so I guess that makes up for the volume. He’s a daytime “snacker”.
Ron had a meeting today from 2-7pm so I had Simon all to myself. I was very tired by the time Ron brought home dinner. I really wanted to take a nap so I tried each time Simon fell asleep but he only wanted to nap in my arms. Each time I tried to put him down, he would wake up then cry for some food or want to play. He finally fell asleep about 6pm. I can’t imagine if I was at home with Simon everyday by myself while Ron had to go to an office job. I can understand why parents can look so exhausted when they are the primary caregiver at home by him/herself. I really appreciate having him home with me so we can share some of the baby duties.
