Future Quarterback

Day 325 = January 21, 2011

My future quaterback. The little football is made from foam and unfortunately Simon’s little teeth are now sharp enough to puncture through things so when we first gave it to him, we thought it was cute that he was gnawing on it… until I noticed that he left bite marks and tore off a few pieces. Unfortunately not child safe so only good for photo taking!

Ewww, boogers!!

Actually it’s a piece of freeze dried apple and what an ugly face Simon is making. His little nose is all red from it leaking and him rubbing it all day long. The daycare is a bit worried about him since his nose has been really runny and he didn’t eat much today but he waxes and wanes. Yesterday he apparently drank all the milk we provided and ate their lunch. Just today he didn’t want to eat and overall didn’t drink much milk but did get a lot of rest, he napped for a total of 3 hours in 2 naps. Poor little guy doesn’t seem bothered by his cold at all except for the irritated nose. He hates us to wipe his nose, no matter how soft the tissue.

What do I want to wear today?

Day 324 = January 20, 2011

So Mr. Smarty Pants has discovered how to open his dresser drawers. He proceeds to take out all his pants from the drawer and dump them on the floor. Maybe he’s telling me wants to change clothes?

What momma? What did I do?

Simon still has a runny nose and cough and mommy still has a sore throat. He’s been sleeping poorly because of waking up to cough at night and also crying out at 5am for his pacifier to go back to sleep. Poor little guy is at least cozy in this PJs from Grandma Tam. It’s so funny that his little foot is pushing against the side of his bed.

Let’s stand up

Day 323 = January 19, 2011

Momma, let me show you my new skill. Watch me, okay?

I want to get my green plastic ball on top of my dresser.

Then I can stand up for a few seconds all by myself!

Then I will slowly squat to sit down again.

Simon is getting stronger and less scared about standing up by himself but he has not taken a “step” yet while standing up.

Yes, that is a Hello Kitty humidifier in his room. It helps for nighttime cold and dry weather and for his stuffy nose. Although it went kaput a few days ago, it still produces cool mist but the fan stopped working so now it no longer comes out of the humidifier. We need to buy a new one but not sure which one to get. I want to find one that lets you direct the mist, this one just shoots the mist upwards so it has to be right next to Simon’s bed. It seems like since it hasn’t been working, his nose has been stuffed up more and he has dry boogers in the morning. I’ll have to do some more research unless anyone has a recommendation?

Pushing the car

Day 322 = January 18, 2011

Simon has learned to hit two blocks together to make a “clink clink” noise.

It’s faint but you can hear the “clink clink” sound as Simon plays.

As I mentioned before, Simon seems to be excited about walking again. He was able to push his car by himself back and forth from daddy to me. We were pretty amazed he can move so fast!

I love watching his jiggly little legs. Poor little guy has another cold though, his noise has been runny and has a little bit of cough (probably from post nasal drip) but no fever. I think he passed it to me though, my throat is getting a bit scratchy and my nose a bit irritated. I hope he recovers from this cold faster than the last. His nasal passages are all swollen and our humidifier fan konked out. He hates the saline rinses but we do them anyways since it probably does provide some relief. Poor baby.

Going bananas over bananas

Day 321 = January 17, 2011

Simon used his strong chompers to bite his own pieces off a banana. He seemed to enjoy eating it.

Check out Simon’s yogurt goatee.

Simon went today to visit Grandma Chung and his Grand Auntie.

He played there while mommy had a girls’ lunch and spa afternoon. We had lunch at Urban Tavern. We were going to do the Dine About Town menu but decided the regular menu looked more appetizing. We ordered some pub fare, 3 items for $13. This is pub cheese with toast. Very rich.

The meatballs. Perfect for sharing.

The red quinoa salad. Very refreshing.

Their burger. Nothing too memorable but not bad. Also the bacon taters (part of pub fare) and a side of mac’n’cheese.

The crab sandwich. Lots of fresh crab meat on top.

Their desserts were great though. We ended up order the peanut butter cup. The ice cream was delicious but the cup wasn’t very peanut-ey. The sea salt peanut brittle was very good.

We also tried the snack cakes. From top left and clockwise: pumpkin whoopie pie, coconut snowball, ho-ho (made for mousse and a bit of cake), and red velvet swirl cake.

I would go back to this place for the desserts. I had a nice relaxing day off today, thank you Ron and Simon for letting me have a day off!
