Mommy and Simon Movie Date

Sunday, February 23, 2014

Simon and I had a “Mommy and Son” day so hopefully we wouldn’t get sick from being in the house with everyone who was sick. In the morning we tried out my cotton candy machine that I got as a gift from Uncle William. I will be making cotton candy for Simon’s birthday party next weekend so wanted to make sure the machine would work and how long the cotton candy would last. Of course Simon had fun eating it.

Late morning we went to watch “The Lego Movie” together. We share popcorn and a mango smoothie. It was great fun! Everything is Awesome!

Then we went for lunch at a burger joint nearby.

Iris wore her PJs all day long and recovered at home with Ron.

After lunch, Simon had a short rest before we went to Walnut Creek to have dinner with my parents for their wedding anniversary. We had a delicious Japanese dinner at Miraku.

The waitresses were talking with us and we told them it was Simon’s birthday coming up so they surprised him with an ice cream that had a candle and sang “Happy Birthday” to him.

He was excited to blow out his candle.

Winter Cold Day 2

Saturday, February 22, 2014

So poor Iris had a rough night and didn’t sleep well with the stuffed nose and coughing. I ended up holding her to sleep for a few hours then Ron also took her for a few hours so I could sleep more before going to work. Her eyes are all swollen and she wasn’t into eating breakfast.

Simon is still fine though.

I got home from work and Iris got a lot of sleep with Ron carrying her but Simon did not take his after lunch nap. Eventually, in the early evening, Ron got too tired from staying up last night with Iris so he took a nap and Simon followed soon after.

Iris was still in a pretty good mood for being sick. She still wanted to play. Her poor little eyes were swollen and red though. She got warm baths today and the steam seemed to help her breathing.

Simon had been learning to write numbers in Chinese. We have been printing out worksheets for him as “homework”. Looking pretty good so far!

Winter Cold

Ron helped to prepare Simon’s lunch this morning. He baked up the mini corn dogs and some tater tots. I added some apple pear and pickled cucumbers.

So poor Iris had a bad day today. She already had a little cough yesterday but today starting this afternoon, she had a runny nose, sneezing, and a noticeable phlegm filled cough. When I got home from work, her eyes were red and watery and she was a little bit warm. I took her temperature and she measured 99.7 only so I did not give her acetaminophen. She ended up napping on me for a little while.

I took her to have an early bath to have the steam help her congestion and also used the Nose Frida to suck out some of the mucus. I used some Baby Vicks to hopefully soothe her cough a little. Poor baby.

I hope Simon doesn’t get sick!

Iris ended up waking up about every 1-3 hours and needed to be held and walked/rocked to sleep. She felt warmer and measured at 100.5 so we finally gave her a dose to acetaminophen to make her more comfortable. She sucked up all the medicine and a lot of water. I think she knew that it was something to help her. I’m sure we will be up all night taking care of her. It’s so hard to not be able to do much for her other than try to keep her comfortable and give her hugs, pats, and kisses so that she knows we are there for her. She has never been this uncomfortable before, I hope it passes soon.

Smiles All Around

Simon’s lunch today of mini chicken tacos, sliced carrots, Fuji apple, and one of the leftover Valentine pretzel bags.

Simon has been requesting to sit on my lap the last two days. I think he might be a bit jealous that Iris is always in my lap when we’re sitting on the ground. So today, I had Simon sit in my lap and Iris sit in Simon’s lap. Simon got a kick out of it.

Love their smiles!

Their Names Are Panda and Panda

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

So I finally used the rice molds and seaweed cutter that I bought to make these cute little pandas for Simon’s lunch. He also has a clementine, pan fried sausage, and pickled cucumbers.

After school, I asked Simon if he liked his lunch and he said he did except he did not eat the pandas. I asked him, “Why not?”. He said, “Their names are Panda and Panda and I didn’t want to eat them because I didn’t know what they were.” He basically then said they were his friends and didn’t want to eat them. So he ate everything else but left the pandas in the container. Even after telling him they were made of rice and seaweed (seaweed being one of his favorite things), he said he still wouldn’t eat them. So not sure what to do… I guess I will have to put away the panda rice molds for now and try another time. They are too cute!

Hello yogurt face Iris!

Simon made a “winter tree” at school today. His arm is the trunk.

Iris is already growing out of her 9 month old clothes. This may be the last time she wears this Hello Kitty onesie. I hope the pants will still fit for a while.
