Yummy meatballs

Day 258

I love Simon’s kind of crazy hair…

Simon has taken to playing with empty water bottles. He likes to pick them up and bang them around or try to suck at the spout.

Ron has been trying to teach Simon to drink water from the bottle. He was doing it for a while but has discovered that he can blow bubbles and make sounds with the water.

So now he spills water and it ends up on his booster chair tray and he splashes it like he is trying to finger paint.

For dinner, Simon had his first meatball.

Ron boiled them so they would be soft and I broke it into little pieces for him to put in his mouth.

Seems to me like he likes them!

Roseola Rash

Day 257

Simon still hasn’t been acting completely like his normal self. He’s been more fussy than usual, a little bit warm, and eating less. This morning we had to remove all his clothes for him to fall asleep for his morning nap.

Although after his nap, he was refreshed so we went for a walk around downtown. We stopped at the Coach store because I had a coupon and while we waited, I had to entertain him in the mirror. It took them over 25 minutes to find and bring me my item (after I already purchased it). The employees were more focused on those customers who were paying cash (tourists from Taiwan or China) and customers who seemed like they were going to spend more money than me. I was a bit annoyed but I already paid so all I could do was wait. Finally, one lady decided to help me since I complained that I had already been waiting 20 minutes. Anyways, at least Simon was very patient while we waited. Maybe if he made more of a ruckus, we wouldn’t have had to wait so long…

We had a little snack while sitting in Union Square. We watched as they were putting up the Christmas tree. We are eating freeze dried Fuji apples.

As we got Simon reading for bedtime, we noticed he had an all over body rash. Since he had been sick, we had been reading up on things so weren’t super alarmed but it still is a shock to see Simon with a rash all over his body. Apparently it is common after a viral infection. Lots of pink bumps all over his trunk, especially on his round little belly. Doesn’t seem to be itchy or anything.

But it may make him a little uncomfortable since he didn’t care to wear clothes. We put on at least this thin T-shirt so he wouldn’t be cold but putting that on was also a bit of a struggle.

I hope this means he is well on his way to recovery.

Out with mommy

Day 256

Simon and I had a busy day today. First we started with Gymboree at 12pm. Unfortunately Simon only had a short nap before class so he was kind of cranky and tired during class. Next week, I’ll have to try harder for him to take at least an hour nap before class so he can have fun at class. After class, we went next door to Noah’s bagels so I could get a cup of coffee and feed both of us lunch. Simon had some Gerber lasagne and some whole wheat bagel. Now I know he also likes bagels. Then we headed to Colma/Daly City for some shopping at BabiesRUs, Carter’s, Target, Daiso, Ross, and Trader Joe’s. We didn’t get home until almost 7pm. Simon almost slept the last 2 hours before we got home since he didn’t nap well earlier in the day. I was surprised that he slept through the bumpy ride in the shopping cart. Simon was really good while mommy got some retail therapy.

Simon really likes our phones. I wonder if that will turn out to be a bad thing?

He especially likes our laptops and will almost leap from our arms to try to reach for the keyboard. Silly baby.

DJ Simon

Day 255

Future job as a DJ?

Simon eating some more porridge. Yum yum!

In the last few days, Simon has picked up the courage to “cruise” on the furniture. He usually wants us right next to him so that he can grab onto us if needed but Ron was able to lure Simon with this red box.

Simon can move a little faster overall these days. His crawl still isn’t completely coordinated but he can move pretty quick if need be.

Simon all bundled up and coming with daddy to pick me up from work.

Hungry, waiting for dinner at In ‘n’ Out.

Offered some hamburger bun.

Eagerly chomping away.

Simon seems to like bread and is interested in whatever we are eating. I hope it’s okay that we offer him stuff from our plate. We make sure that it’s something easily mashable and hopefully without too many additives like salt.

Simon pooped out after a long day.

Here’s to the weekend!

Day at Grandma Tam’s House

Day 254

Since I had the day off, I brought Simon to San Ramon to see Grandma Tam. She made him his first rice porridge with carrots and pork. He ate a few bites but then wanted his avocado. Since the porridge was kind of thick, it was probably hard for Simon to swallow since he can’t breathe well through his stuffy nose. Grandma made him some for later so we’ll have to thin it out with some water or something. She also got Simon some gifts like clothes, bibs, and toys. Thank you Grandma Tam!

While playing with Simon, he climbed up onto his car all by himself. (The reason it didn’t roll away from him is because it is pushed up against the Despicable Me plush which is up against the baby gate.)

It was nice to have a day off during the week but it will definitely be a crazy day at work tomorrow. It was exhausting driving to and from San Ramon today though as I was unlucky at the Caldecott Tunnel both ways. It’ll be interesting to see how traffic will be after the fourth bore is complete.
