Being creative

Day 228

So we have today to pack and prepare for our vacation. Simon had a 2 hour morning nap and woke up happy and refreshed.

He played with his xylophone/piano for a bit.

Then moved on to his activity table.

Then his milk bottle cap.

Then back to his other piano. I was sitting on the sofa and I could hear this “pop” sound and I didn’t think his toy had any buttons or levers that made that sound and upon further inspection, our creative little Simon had found a way to make this little popping sound by sticking his finger in and out of this little hole. I really wanted to roll on the floor laughing when I saw this was what he was doing but instead shot this quick video.

After playtime, it was time for another nap. Simon really like sleeping on his stomach now and also needs to have a pillow of some sort. He’s kind of like me when I sleep, I prefer the stomach and need to wrap my arms around a pillow.

It will be an interesting day tomorrow with the 5 hour flight to Honolulu then change to an interisland plane to Kauai… let’s hope for the best!

Future job as a horse

Day 227

Maybe Simon has a secret desire to be a horse. He looks like he is using his rattle as a bit…

Simon also enjoys daddy’s new iPad by watching Baby Einstein videos (for only a few minutes today. Not sure if he should be watching these videos yet).

Mommy thinks I’m awesome

Day 226

Simon has some new bibs, this is my favorite and it’s so true!

I know this is blurry, but I love his wide eyed look.

Knocked out baby Simon sleeping on his tummy.

Ron had to get creative with meal time today as Simon is still refusing purees after a few bites. He was able to somehow convince Simon to feed himself by letting him hold onto the spoon himself.

For dinner we met up with our families for dinner to celebrate Ron and my birthday. We had steaks at Ruth Chris in SF.

We were too stuffed for dessert so the waiter packed us a dessert to go. Only a few more days until Hawaii!

Meditating Simon

Day 225

I love this picture Ron took this morning of Simon right after he finished drinking his milk. Looks like he is meditating… OHM…

Simon went to visit grandma since she just got back from a trip. He’s turning around to check her out.

Simon makes attempts to crawl but prefers to move about by moving on his butt. Well, actually he prefers us carrying him around but he can sort of move forward but getting on his hands and knees, pivoting a little, then landing on his bottom again in a different location. Here he is showing you he can move from crawling position to sitting and reverse.

Simon naps in the car with daddy while waiting for me until I get off work since we were going out for dinner tonight.

Simon looks uninterested in mommy… instead he is checking out what is inside his diaper bag.

Waiting in the car while waiting for Auntie Vicki and Uncle Alan to meet us for dinner. So Simon took some time to learn how to drive from daddy.

We had dinner at Han Il Kwan, a Korean restaurant. There is a tour bus parking zone right in front and two groups of Korean tourists came in to eat after us so it was good we came before the rush. We hoped for pretty good food since if Koreans eat here, it must be pretty good.

Here is Simon with Auntie Vicki.

Our side dishes for the pork belly. We had the kitchen cook our meats since we didn’t feel like cooking and smelling like BBQ and the waiter suggested it since the chefs probably do it better than us since it is what they do.

Complimentary steamed egg.

Side dish of pancakes, just green onion.

The duk bok kee, chewy rice cakes.

Soft tofu stew, piping hot!

Seafood pajun (pancake). A huge portion.

Kalbi.

Needless to say, everything was really good and we were super stuffed!

First Flu Shot

Day 224

We brought back half a dozen mini cupcakes from when we were in Pasadena. The place is called Dots Cupcakes. Cute box huh?

I was pleasantly surprised they made it back all in one piece and were still pretty tasty. From the one with the carrot going clockwise: carrot, chocolate caramel (?), lemon, dulce de leche, chocobutter, and red velvet.

Simon is becoming more independent these days, he’s holding his own bottle more and more. When he’s tired (or just feeling lazy), he still prefers that we hold it for him.

Since it’s influenza season, Ron took Simon to get his first flu shot. Simon needs to get two shots this year since this is first time getting vaccinated. Here is is anxiously waiting in line.

Simon got his shot and Ron said he only cried out for a few seconds then calmed down right away. What a good boy!

Simon really likes to stand up so still hasn’t really started to crawl yet. He prefers to prop himself against the piano and play there. At least he is content for a short while playing by himself so that daddy Ron can have some time to do some work.
