My Little Tiger

Day 183

I think Simon will be very good at yoga, he is so bendy!

Grandma Tam gave Simon is little tiger outfit made by Carter’s. So adorable!

He’s like a little puffball that you just want to squeeze. The outfit also has matching pants and the jacket has a little tail.

This will be perfect for Halloween… but we also have other outfits. We’ll have to see what he fits into when the time comes.

Tomorrow Simon will be 6 months old! How time flies! His next pediatrician appointment is next week for his next set of immunizations and to check out his weight and height. It feels like he is maybe 19-20 lbs now and he has definitely grown a little bit. He used to not be able to reach the floor in his Exersaucer but now he is able to plant both feet on the ground. I don’t look forward to the crying from the immunizations. I’m afraid that he might get a low grade fever this time around as his body starts building up it’s immunity so we’ll have to decide if we should give him some prophylactic acetaminophen.

The cookies I baked yesterday were a hit at work today. Sometimes the simple recipes are the best. Happy Hump Day! I hope the beautiful weather continues.

Simon pivoting on knees

Day 182

Drooling Simon on our bed. The bed is a good place for him the practice crawling, it’s soft so he can push down on it and it is soft for when he falls.

Simon is biting his lower lip here and he seems like he might be starting to teeth. He was biting on Ron’s finger which we switched out with a teething toy and he kept on gnawing on it.

It’s amazing how much stronger Simon is just in a few days. Here he is pivoting on his knees. He also cries when he is frustrated and kind of struggles on his stomach. It is like he is hoping that by wriggling his arms and legs that he can propel himself forward on his stomach.

Simon went to bed early tonight and I was in a baking mood so I baked these chocolate chip oatmeal walnut cookies. The recipe is on the bag of Nestle Tollhouse Chocolate Chips. We bought this huge bag the last time we were at Costco so I thought I’d try to use some of them. The recipe makes about 4 dozen cookies. I only have one cookie sheet so it took me a while to bake up all the cookie dough. But they were yummy if I do say so myself. A bit crispy on the outside and edges, chewy and gooey on the inside.

Superbaby

Day 181

It’s superhero outfits these last few days for Simon. Here he is in his Superman T-shirt.

Nitin, our friend from Singapore, was visiting so Ron and Simon took him to the Gilroy Outlets for some shopping. Here’s what Simon thinks about shopping with the guys…

jk! Ron says he was actually very well behaved the entire time. Ron did a little shopping for me and picked me up some new Jelly Belly flavors.

I’m a little afraid… what in the world will “centipede” taste like?!? I’ll let you know after I try them…

After I got off work, they came to pick me up for dinner. We went to La Taqueria in the Mission. Simon was really interested in my burrito. He actually almost got it into his mouth. Could you imagine his expression if he tasted a bit of the salsa?

We hope that we can visit Singapore next year to see Nitin and Nimisha’s little girl Aanya.

Simon had a long day and was fast asleep in his car seat on the ride home after dinner.

I am also exhausted after the activity filled weekend. It will feel good to sleep early tonight.

Interest in wine

Day 180

It’s a very busy weekend for us. Ron had to help his brother move and we also had a party to attend to at Captain Vineyards in Moraga, their granddaughter was visiting for the first time.

While Ron went to move, I went home to relax with Simon and we even went for a walk around downtown since it was a nice day. We did a bit of shopping and I bought Simon a new hat.

At the Captains, Simon took some interest in the wine barrels.

Then he grabbed at my wine glass while I was having a taste.

Then with my back turned, he grabbed at daddy’s glass…

Mischievous little guy, Simon can be…

Baby Lily Captain was asleep so we didn’t get a picture but we were glad to be able to meet her and welcome her to California!

Chung Family Daycare and Wedding at the Four Seasons

Day 179

I left early this morning in order to get ready for Kathleen and Jonathan’s wedding in the afternoon. Ron stayed home with Simon until Grandpa Chung came to pick Simon up to take care of him while we were at the wedding.

Simon is wearing one of his Superhero onesies… here is is practicing telekinesis, trying to will the bottle to come toward him.

Simon was well taken care of by Grandpa Chung and Uncle William.

As I said, we started early for the big day. Since the bride and the other bridesmaids stayed nearby, they started hair and makeup around 7:30am. I arrived at the hotel around 8am to get my hair and makeup done. We were out the door by 12 o’clock to take some group photos then back to the hotel for the tea ceremony with the ceremony at 4:30pm then it was time to party! The bride and groom had a lucky day with nice weather (except a bit windy). This is the terrace outside the lobby level of the Four Seasons San Francisco.

Thank you to Kathleen’s youngest sister Belinda for doing all our makeup! I have no talent in applying makeup so I’m glad that she was there to help us out.

Before dinner, we gave our toasts to the newlyweds. Everyone else gave funny heartwarming speeches. When it was my turn, I was feeling very nervous and what I wanted to say started to slip my mind. Then I made myself cry and the bride cry. I was a bit embarrassed but got through my toast but don’t look forward to watching their wedding video for a recap. But at least I wasn’t the only one who cried. Kathleen’s dad was the last to give a toast and his voice also broke and he was on the verge of tears. I’ve been to many weddings where the dad cries at their daughter’s weddings but not the moms, funny how that works out.

After our toasts, we started dinner and boy it was yummy!

This was a sweet corn and basil bisque with corn bread crumbs. Here is is without the bisque.

The delicious creamy bisque.

The salad served with a mini flan with truffle and later topped with a vinaigrette later.

The fish course. The fish was very fresh and you could tell it was a fatty fish because it was very smooth.

The beef course. Tender meat and delicious riced potatoes.

They had two flavors of cakes. Strawberry:

Chocolate:

Of course their was dancing after dinner where everyone let loose… including my parents!

The band was really great and brought back good memories from our high school and college days. The singers were also really talented. We were all able to release our stress and have a good time for the rest of the night. Congratulations to Kathleen & Jonathan! I am so happy to have been a part of the wedding and we were both glad to have been able to celebrate with you!

Thank you to Grandpa Chung and Uncle William for taking care of Simon so that we could have the evening for ourselves.
