I’m super!

Day 138

We finally had time to do Simon’s laundry again so he has another new outfit.  During the day, Simon is a mild mannered baby… by night, he transforms into “Super Baby” and will scare you with those eyebrows!

IMG_1039.JPG

So we visited my co-worker and her family this morning and since their youngest is over 1 year old, she has lost interest in her Exersaucer so they let us borrow it for a while.  It is the same one that Simon has at his grandparents except it is a previous generation so has different toys.  He is having fun with it and exploring the different toys.  He likes the piano and this purple dolphin that spins and has beads inside.  His legs still don’t quite reach the ground so Ron fashioned a piece of styrofoam to support his feet.

Simon also received a Boppy pillow as a gift a while ago but we weren’t sure we were going to use it.  But we found it to be a good way to prop Simon up, either sitting up so that it wraps around his front and he leans forward on it or for him to have tummy time and learn how to push up with his arms and push with his feet.

Simon woke up too early for me this morning so I was exhausted by afternoon.  I ended up taking a 3 hour late afternoon nap.  He’s been waking up earlier than usual so one of us has to wake up with him to cater to his needs.  At least during the weekend I can take a nap but I hope he doesn’t do it during the week.

Grabbing with both hands

Day 137

So Simon has been getting into the bad habit of flipping himself over onto his stomach while in bed.  We can hear him thrashing around, kicking, scratching, and whimpering then all of a sudden, he’s quiet.  This is when he has flipped over and face planted into the crib’s pad.  He is usually sucking on his pacifier so there’s no risk of him blocking his airway since his nose is still not completely pressed down… but sometimes he doesn’t have his pacifier in his mouth and he releases a large amount of saliva which pools a bit and makes his face super wet.  He has a little red rash on his cheek from this a few nights ago.

This morning after pumping, I heard Simon turn over again so went to turn him back onto his back.  Ron had left Simon’s Winnie the Pooh plush at the grandparents so Simon had only his pudding puppy pillow to hold onto.  Doesn’t he look so peaceful?

photo.jpg

We’re not sure how to prevent him from turning onto his stomach since it seems to be a favorite position these days, even during playtime.  Check out his booty!

photo.jpg

Although I’ve been trying to have him practice sitting up more but for some reason he hates sitting on his behind.  He prefers standing or lying down.  But while playing with him today, I thought I’d give him a different perspective on his toys hanging from his playmat and surprisingly he grabbed hold of the two bars of the playmat and was balancing himself.

IMG_1019.JPG

He’s still quite wobbly if you watch this video and ends up falling forward or backward.  He seems really flexible!

We went for a walk around downtown today since it was such a nice day but boy, does my back and shoulders hurt.  Simon is getting pretty heavy.  I received a suggestion for a different carrier and may invest in another one since Simon does prefer to be carried rather than being put in the car seat or stroller.  We tried the bigger stroller (without the car seat) before I went out with him but he really hated it.  We already know he doesn’t like the car seat anymore unless he has to so I just took him out in the Baby Bjorn.  Here is a picture of him after we got home, grabbing hold of BOTH feet!

One more day left before the weekend is over.  Last week at work seemed so long but the weekend always passes by too fast.

Squeaky clean

Day 136

Simon has been falling asleep too early the past two evenings so we haven’t given him a bath.  So while I was at work, Ron decided to bathe Simon during the daytime so we wouldn’t miss it tonight again.

A squeaky clean Simon sporting his new Pampers Cruisers diapers.  These have Sesame Street designs on them and a strong baby powder like fragrance.  The last time we bought diapers, we bought Pampers Sensitive Swaddlers and Pampers Cruisers.  The Swaddlers have a more chemical like smell but worked great, not one leak.  The Cruisers are supposed to be for babies who are more on the move so we’ll see how well they contain leaks.

He likes to grab onto his toes now and did some talking with Ron after his bath.

Today Simon played with his humongous Winnie the Pooh.

IMG_1005.JPG

Compared to his first picture with Biggie Pooh (on Day 24), Simon has really grown and is much more mobile.  Simon says: Peek-a-boo!

IMG_1014.JPG

Simon got some gifts today from my co-worker Tina but they are for when he is bigger so pictures will have to wait.  For now, check out the website Baby Wit for some cool onesies.  Their slogan is fun: You May Not Be Cool, But Your Baby Can Be.

photo.jpg

We still haven’t let Simon try solid foods yet but he seems to be open to sticking anything in his mouth so I’m hoping food won’t be a problem.  His fingers and hand are still his favorite things to put into his mouth, even this bug wrist rattle doesn’t get in his way.

The weekend is here!  It was a busy day at work.  I’m exhausted.  But third week back to work and so far it is tolerable.  I still get really sad in the morning when I leave and I’m really tired at night and tend to fall asleep before I mean to.  The daily routine is still a work in progress.

My little tiger

Day 135

My little tiger went to the grandparents again for the day.  I got him all dressed up in one of his tiger outfits.  Here’s my little muscle man, look at those arms! (but then look at that little pot belly!)

Simon (Ron) left me a Facebook post “Hi Mommy”:

Today was Day 2 with the Exersaucer and he seemed to be more interested in it and actually playing with it.

The next concert pianist?

They also made me a video of Simon chatting away.  He’s been a bit quiet recently so it’s good to hear his voice.

Daddy and Simon have matching orange colors today.

IMG_0993.JPG

Apparently Simon had a bit of a rough patch and was crying but here he is recovering on grandpa’s shoulder.  Look at those chubby cheeks.  I wish I was there to wipe away those tears!  Notice his hand gripping grandpa’s shirt, he’s been doing that a lot lately, grabbing onto whatever is handy, including my hair.

IMG_0996.JPG

Ron encourages Simon to hold his bottle as much as possible so that he can have at least one free hand.  In this case to check messages on his iPhone.

IMG_1000.JPG

When the bottle gets close to empty though, Simon usually ends up dropping it since he’s not really gripping it, more like supporting it to stay in his mouth.  He’s also been sucking on it kind of weird, sometimes his bottom lip will go around the cap instead of just around the nipple.  Not sure what that’s all about.

Almost the weekend…

Simon’s new toy

Day 134

I had a few hours to play with Simon this morning before going to work.  Check out his cute PJs.

IMG_0961.JPG

Simon spent the day with Ron at his parents.  Simon is getting really chubby and round.  I don’t know if I like this picture…

or this one better…

Simon has a new toy at their place, an exersaucer.

IMG_0969.JPG

His legs are still a little short for this toy, his feet don’t touch the ground yet.

IMG_0964.JPG

The exersaucer may be a little bit overwhelming for Simon since he seemed a bit confused while trying to play with it.

Once Simon came home though, no more exersaucer, just his little ol’ jingle ball.  He really likes to try to put it into his mouth.

One last video of daddy trying to engage Simon in play.
