Kitties steal the show

Day 39

Grandpa Chung came to visit Simon this morning and brought us lots of fresh vegetables and fruits.  I’ve been craving some fresh fruit since we haven’t had time to go out yet for groceries.

Tummy Time

Day 38

Simon is not a morning person.  This is him at 4 in the morning.

Simon has been getting a little better about tummy time.  He’s still not that happy about it but is able to tolerate it for up to 10 minutes before he starts getting cranky.

Here is Simon with his new cow toy.  It appealed to me because it is very round and makes a cute cow-bell like jingle, I hope Simon will like it eventually.  He does track it with his eyes when he sees it in his field of vision.

I can’t believe it’s the end of another week!  Simon will have some visitors this weekend so it should be an exciting few days 🙂

Sleepyhead

Day 37

Simon was a lazy boy today.  He spent the morning being a little bit fussy with some loud crying.  He must have tired himself out because he really did not want to stay awake.

Ron just trimmed his nails.

We’ve been trying to get him used to sleeping in the bassinet of his playpen.  He hated it for the first part of the day but in the afternoon he started to stay asleep in it.  We’ve been laying him down on our sofa to nap usually but thought he might not be getting restful sleep since he would only nap for short periods.  He does seem to sleep longer now in the bassinet and it probably helped that we put a piece of foam underneath the pad to prop his head up a little.  We’ve been watching him on the baby monitor to make sure he isn’t fidgeting too much.  This is night mode, still pretty clear.

When he was awake, Ron had him bouncing on his knees.  He’s starting to really look like Ron, don’t you think?

Lunch in Union Square

Day 36

We had been cooped up in the house for a few days so decided to go out for lunch.  I just did a generic search on Yelp for restaurants in our area and came across this place called Cafe Dolci that serves Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi).  We decided to walk there and pick up sandwiches and walk back to Union Square to eat.  The place is really just a little hole in the wall, there is no seating inside and after you order, you basically have to wait outside since there is no standing room in the little store.  But they do take phone and fax orders so that probably helps out the people who work in the area.

I decided to try the BBQ Bacon Vietnamese Sandwich and made it a meal for $6.50 (includes bag of chips and can of soda).  This sign was in their store window, this would probably draw most people’s attention… aren’t most things better with bacon?

The BBQ Bacon is actually like the BBQ fatty pork that you find in most Vietnamese sandwiches, it’s red colored and very fatty.  It was full of yummy veggies except it wasn’t spicy enough, needed more jalapenos.

Ron ordered the meatball sandwich; chicken meatballs according to the guy behind the counter.  Ron was missing the spice too.  If we go back, we’d ask for extra jalapenos.

Simon was a bit cranky before leaving for lunch but he was rocked to sleep in the stroller so had his nap while we had our lunch in Union Square.

We went to a Starbucks to have some coffee and do some reading but Simon started to fuss after a while and wanted to go home.  Our life is being dictated by a baby… I hope he doesn’t get too used to that as he grows up 😛  I hope we haven’t spoiled him too much already…

Visit with Gladys

Day 35

Today Simon had a morning visit with Auntie Gladys.  She came bearing gifts for Simon and a delicious homemade banana bread for us.  Simon will showcase his new outfits later on in this blog.  One is a really cute Paul Frank suspender outfit which I hope Simon won’t be tempted to pee on (he seems to enjoy peeing on the one from Auntie Tiffany).

Simon was exhausted after all the excitement in the morning.  He usually sleeps most of the morning and is more energetic in the afternoon.  Today he was the opposite so he was exhausted in the late afternoon and took a nap with daddy.
