Civic Park

June 15, 2011

Simon went to enjoy the sand and water park again.

Splashing around with water.

Relaxing underneath the trees with his shades on.

Simon says “whee” when he’s in the mood to be on the swing.

After playing in the park, Simon and daddy came home and continued to play.

Peek-a-boo!

Playing with the Talking Tom Cat iPhone App.

We always watch Simon on the monitor, now it was his turn to watch one of us.

Cute, Single, Smiling Baby

June 8 – 14, 2011

6.8.2011
Simon and Daddy have been frequenting Home Depot.

Simon trying to control the direction of the shopping cart.

Simon had his 15 month checkup today and he’s continuing on the same growth curve. He got a few shots today and he only cried for a few seconds before calming down.

6.9.2011

Simon is trying to say new words everyday. Here he is trying to say “blueberry”.

This afternoon we took a walk around downtown Walnut Creek. Simon was instantly drawn to this fountain. He really wanted to crawl into it to splash around (but we didn’t let him).

6.10.2011

Anyone want to date this cute single dude?

He even does his own grocery shopping? (He insisted on grabbing a few canned goods and daddy accidentally bought a few that we didn’t need).

6.11.2011

Simon really likes the sand and water park at Civic Park. He got soaked and sandy.

6.12.2011

We took a trip to San Francisco to meet up with one of Ron’s friends. We had dim sum but then went to have coffee and donuts at Dynamo Donut. We tried an earl gray strawberry, maple bacon apple, and monte cristo.

Contemplative.

Our happy baby.

Simon’s funny napping position.

6.13.2011

Simon loves watermelon!

Wanna see Simon’s teeth?

He opened his mouth and let me hold his mouth open to take a picture. His 1st molars are in and his canines are coming out.

I took these pictures for Simon. I let him see it on the camera screen, took the picture, then let him see it playback on the camera again. He had a good giggle seeing his two friends, Winnie the Pooh and Ziggy the Zebra.

To bed early.

6.14.2011

I want to go outside!

Daddy taught Simon how to imitate an elephant trunk. We ask Simon “show us elephant” or something similar.

Simon has discovered his foot (“jiao”)

Karate kick!

Somehow Simon learned how to shrug. Probably from watching us. Maybe not a good habit…

Another wonderful week with Simon.

Horsing Around and First Haircut

June 1 – 7, 2011

6.1.2011
It can be cold at night so we have been trying to find different ways to keep Simon warm. This sleeping robe is from Grandma Chung when he was first born and now it finally fits.

He looks so poofy.

Ah, so comfortable!

6.2.2011
Kermit Simon, ready to go out with Daddy.

At Target, waiting for a ride.

Simon thinks going over shopping cart speed bumps is super fun!

Simon in his yellow and blue M&M outfit.

Simon can be very insistent… here he is trying to convince daddy to turn on the TV to watch Sesame Street… saying Cookie, Elmo…

Having a good nap after a day out with Daddy.

6.3.2011
Simon is getting very active these days and doesn’t like to sit in the shopping cart so we have one of those kid harnesses to keep him from running around all over the place. He won’t hold our hand and doesn’t really listen to us when he’s focused on doing something… so this is our only option for now.

We tell Simon we’re putting on his Pooh backpack when we want to put on the harness.

Babies sleeps so well after running around in a store.

So went to get ourselves lunch at a KFC drive-thru before heading to Costco. Simon actually slept for a while after we took him out of the carseat but eventually woke up. He spotted some Sesame Street books which we ended up buying for him.

Sleeping again as we headed to SF for dinner with my coworkers.

Simon actually let Uncle Hansen hold him. But then Hansen bounced him a little too much and he got upset.

Simon only let Auntie Cheryl hold him for a second then got upset again. Simon has been a mommy-monkey for the last few weeks.

Thank you everyone for coming out in the rain! 1 week left to work with these wonderful group of people!

6.4.2011

Simon figured how to draw lines.

Simon is excited he learned how to use his horse on a stick. He has enough wrist muscle now to hold it up by himself.

Riding his horse video.

Simon usually hates walking on the sidewalk but we decided to bring his “leash” with us anyways for the time when he would want to do it. Today happened to be one of those days.

I’m walking ahead and hiding behind trees and doorways. He really seemed to enjoy that.

6.5.2011

Simon really needs a haircut but we decided we should have some fun with his hair while it is still long. Daddy has super strong hold gel… these are his attempts at styling… Mohawk.

Profile shot.

Full on view.

Sonic the Hedgehog?

Middle part.

Enjoying the swing at a neighborhood park.

Whee!

6.6.2011

We went to lunch with grandma and to visit a nearby park. He loves the slide, especially when we slide down with him. I think he feels more safe with us holding him.

Then we went back to the house and Simon wanted to play with the water fountain while my mom was cleaning it.

He got himself all wet while using this scoop to try to take water out of the bucket.

He would just end up dumping the water all of his arm and head.

He loved it!

Then he ended having to run around the house in his tank top onesie while we dried his clothes in the dryer.

Simon’s new cookie monster PJs.

6.7.2011

Simon knows how to turn on the ceiling fan.

Simon playing with the train set at Kristine’s Kuts while waiting for his appointment.

Sitting in the kiddie car chair… happy before they start cutting his hair.

He got scared of sitting in his own chair so instead sat on my lap. Kristine was spritzing his hair with water to make it easier to cut.

Snip snip snip in the back.

All done because Simon started crying and moving around too much.

She recommended we have Simon watch daddy getting a haircut first so he won’t be so scared the next time.

Outside our house.

After his hair dried, we saw that the front was crooked… unfortunately looks kind of dorky, almost like a rice bowl cut but not quite.

At least the back is nice, shorter and not all over his neck.

The big move and all the things that follow…

May 25 – 31, 2011

5.25.2011
We spent our last night in our SF apartment yesterday. Today was the big move. We highly recommend these movers. Very professional, very quick, reasonably priced (accurate estimate too), and barely any damage to our items (only some slight cracks in our particle board IKEA furniture).

Simon went to his SF daycare so after we moved and unpacked essentials (like Simon’s room), we went back to pick him up and had some time to visit newborn baby Caden. Welcome to the world Baby Caden!

We stopped by Ikea on the way home to have dinner and walk around. Did you know Ikea has family parking? I didn’t know and last time I remember having to push the shopping cart a long distance to my car in the parking lot… this spaces are a lot closer and in the same area as the disabled parking. It makes it easier when you kid is screaming and ready to go home.

Simon had fun at dinner… learning “upside down”.

Simon’s first night in his new room.

5.26.2011
Second night, sleeping with his pal Ziggy.

5.27.2011
Simon is refreshed after a good night’s sleep – mommy is still tired.

Simon’s spacious new room. Needs some decoration but plenty of space for him and his stuff.

5.28.2011
There’s an IHOP in Walnut Creek.. yay for me! Simon munching on breakfast and showing us his bruise on his temple. He threw a tantrum yesterday and sat down to protest but when he sat down, he lost his balance and hit his head on one of the kitchen cabinets.

5.29.2011
Simon enjoying breakfast in the kitchen… among the boxes that need unpacking.

Since we were in SF to do a final cleanup at our apartment, we went first to have lunch at Yellow Sub. Simon enjoyed some fries with ketchup.

Daddy had a meeting so Simon and I went to Yerba Buena to play at the park. I picked up these water/sand toys for Simon so that he could try out the sand park at Yerba Buena.

Some kids kept on trying to steal Simon’s toys – where were their parents?!? – but some played nicely with Simon.

Simon had a good time playing in the sand and water. He got soaking wet but I brought him a change of clothes so he was good to go. We stopped by our apartment to do some last minute cleaning and packed up the car… but we still have more stuff that won’t fit so will go back one more time.

5.30.2011
We had our parents over for an afternoon BBQ. Simon had his own slice of watermelon.

He dove right in!

5.31.2011
Since I had to go to work, Ron and Simon came out with me. Ron went to finish up cleaning and return the keys and Simon went to his last day at his daycare. They were great and I’m sure Simon will miss his favorite auntie.

Our kitchen is still a mess so we decided to go out for dinner at Fuddruckers. Simon wasn’t interested in the food, he is more interested in the cup lid and figured out he could poke his finger through the straw opening.

Staying home then Getting Out, Saying NO!

May 18 – 24, 2011

5.18.2011
Simon felt a bit warm last night and this morning so he stayed home with me today since I had the day off. We also didn’t want to get the other kids sick if Simon was contagious. He seemed happy to be home with me.

Then he had a short nap for less than an hour.

Then he woke up crying and couldn’t be consoled for an hour. Eventually when I asked if he wanted to go outside, he quieted down and was ready for a walk to the playground. We stopped by Yerba Buena to check out the fountains.

We went to the playground and Simon had fun (and got wet!) playing in the water.

Plus sliding down the slide with mommy.

Then a stop at Union Square to listen to some salsa music.

And some dinner from Panda Express. Simon had fried rice.

I guess he really just wanted to get out of the house, feeling cooped up all day. He didn’t seem to have any fevers today so he can go play with the other kids tomorrow.
5.19.2011
Simon giving Hello Kitty a hug.

5.20.2011
Simon playing with an octopus plush. He says “oc-pu”.

Simon’s hair is getting long. He will need to go for a haircut soon.

5.21.2011
Simon’s first rice cracker. It was a little big for him for breakfast so he only ate about a third.

We went shopping at Target and Ron got Simon this “echo” microphone.

5.22.2011
We went this morning again to Yerba Buena Playground. Simon really likes water.

We rode the carousel again and Simon was still scared of riding on the animals that go up and down but didn’t mind sitting on top of a stationary lion… as long as mommy was holding him.

Then we sat down for a rest before heading home.

Simon looking cool in his jeans!

Our last weekend in SF where we can walk to Yerba Buena from our apartment.
5.23.2011
Simon’s cheesy smile.

Yay! Arms up!

5.24.2011
Simon enjoying some watermelon. It got messy.

Simon has learned how to say “no”. Now he says “no” all the time.

Simon’s technique for making raspberries has improved, he can be really loud now.
