Can’t resist kissing her cheeks in the morning!

Simon didn’t seem to like his lunch much today. In the thermos is mushroom chicken over rice then persimmons, string cheese, assorted crackers, and fruit snacks.

He hardly ate anything but I was really proud of him this morning since he almost didn’t cry. Right when I was going to say goodbye and give him a hug and kiss is when he “panicked” and started to get upset. Each day a little closer to him being used to getting dropped off in the morning. He says he likes school but is just a little sad sometimes. Here are some of his recent artwork that they posted outside the classroom.

Iris had a big day of drinking milk and actually napping. During the time I was at work, she drank 4 ounces x 6 = 24 ounces. Normally it is only 18-20 ounces and she will take in 2-4 ounces each feeding. She also napped in 1-2 hour increments where it is usually 30 minutes. Sounds like another growth spurt maybe 🙂

Cozy little hat to keep Iris’ head warm.

Iris had a few hours of Daddy-time this morning. Her bib says “Daddy’s Little Princess”.

Simon had a warm (I hope) lunch today. Not sure if the thermos kept it warm all day but he seemed to like it as there wasn’t much left over. I made pasta with corn and mini hot dogs in the thermos. Plus grapes, Fuji apples, string cheese, half a chocolate chip cookie (leftover from our dinner at Fuddruckers last night that he didn’t get to eat), and snack of apple chips and assorted crackers.

Tonight Ron and I attended the fundraiser gala for Asian Health Services with my family. New Oakland Pharmacy was a platinum sponsor of the event this year.

It was a good program this year and I hope they raised their goal amount. Dinner was well done this time, complete with a beautiful mango dessert.

As you know, I cut my hair yesterday. In part because it is really thinning out now post giving birth. I didn’t lose quite this much hair after Simon so it was a little scary seeing it come out in clumps. My hair is really thin on top so is a bit flat looking but here is the length of my new hairdo. Tomorrow I’ll have to try to style it myself, I’m hoping it won’t be a disaster.

Iris stayed home with our nanny this evening and Simon went out with Ron’s parents at their house. He was a bit reluctant to go and cried a little. Thanks to the Chung grandparents for watching him. He was happy to come home and I was happy to see him.

He showed off his art class project from today which he calls his “shape book”. They cut out shapes and glued them on the paper and he folded it in half to make it a “book”. He prefers his “choooz” smile over his regular smile.

I love Iris’ big curious eyes.

Simon said he had a better day today and was very happy to see me. One of the first things he asks me is “What do you have for snack?” Today was a mango pearl drink.

He ate most of his lunch today: grilled cheese with hot dog sandwiches, carrots, apple pear, cantaloupe, cheese, fruit snacks, roasted seaweed, and a navel orange.

He left a few carrots, some cantaloupe, and the orange. Cute little toothpicks helped him eat more I think. He isn’t a super fan of sandwiches but seemed into them today.

Simon took a bath in our master bath tub. The drain in his bathroom is broken so you can’t fill it with water but Simon wanted a bath instead of a shower today.

Today I had a big day and had a haircut. Farewell long hair! I hope one day you will be used to make a someone happy.

I think I will be donating to Pantene Beautiful Lengths this time. Locks of love is in some sort of accounting dispute with the IRS so I don’t feel comfortable with donating to them right now.

I suspect Simon didn’t take a nap at school but didn’t get a chance to ask his teacher. He might soon not need naps every day since he does not always nap when at home but with being a little sick, he probably needs a little more sleep. He fell asleep in the car and continued to sleep for a short while at home.

He said today was a little better at school but he still missed us sometimes but every day is a little better. Maybe he’s finally turning a corner. Mondays have been the toughest days and he usually doesn’t eat but today was slightly better. He has pizza, cucumbers, honeydew melon, cheese, chocolate bunny cookies, fruit snacks, dried apples, crackers, and one Hershey’s chocolate.

He only left 1/3 of the pizza, 1/2 the cucumbers, and the chocolate bunnies. He ate the apples and crackers on the car ride home. We let him watch Disney’s Ratatouille during dinner, so entranced.

Little Iris has some tummy troubles today, a little constipated it seems, so she didn’t nap all that well. She was in bed before 8pm and quickly fell asleep. Our little year of the snake girl.

We had an early rain this Saturday and Simon wore his raincoat and rain boots to go splashing around. He already had a little cough but it maybe got worse with the change in weather. He had a great time outside splashing around but had a hard time sleeping on Saturday night. Tonight he already seemed better though with less coughing. The weather was nicer today too.

Saturday, September 21:
The amazing sleeping baby only made a one night appearance. She has returned back to waking up after about 5 hours.

Outfit for the day. This little dress has a onesie attached inside. Makes it easier to hold her without worrying about. “bunching”.

She is getting much more deliberate with her hand movements. It was fun to watch her touch and grab her toys.

I like this playmat for multiple uses. Great for tummy time.

Silly Simon spent the afternoon out with Ron’s parents but took some pics of him acting silly before he left. He loves eating apple pears that we got from Grandpa Tam.

Ron and I went out for coffee with Iris in the afternoon. Looks like she might want some!

Maybe she needed some as she fell asleep quickly afterwards.

Sunday, September 22:
Sleeping beauty. Her hair in the front is always a little bit funny, a little bed head in the morning.

Napping in Ergo carrier. She is finally big enough to carry her comfortably in it. Gives my arms a break and lets her be closer to me. Don’t worry, she can breathe, this picture is just taken at a bad angle.

Outfit for the day. Two layers of warmth again for a little chilly day. Daddy needs to shave, Iris doesn’t like to be close to his scruffy chin.

Playmat time again. She can play by herself up to 15-20 minutes before she starts wanting attention. Tummy time itself maybe only 5 minutes since it is a lot of work for her.

Simon was still coughing on and off during the day and didn’t have much appetite. But he always has room for ice cream.

Another weekend finished. Time to tackle another week.
